Exclamation Al Borland/Richard Karn Deserved Better

Ok I probably will get blasted by most of the Home Improvement fans especially the women but I gotta get this off my chest so here goes.

Richard Karn aka Al Borland on the show imo was done dirty by Tim Allen and the writers producers etc throughout the show because the star of the show Tim Allen who dont get me wrong I like and think is very funny

But he showed his insecurities by never letting Al have a girlfriend who was at least as pretty as his wife jill aka Patricia Richardson on the show. Ilene the orthodontist was ok looking but not great looking and her character was very annoying.

The very pretty sweet young blonde from the audience who was crazy for Al and he was crazy for her
Other than a few episodes got the boot

same goes for the pretty sweet brunette across the hall from his apartment who could cook and really liked Al and he liked her only made it in a few episodes.

Then to top it all off towards the end of the show they put Al with this very ugly actress Megan Cavanaugh who played the rich girl Trudy who they ended up having Karns character marry

C'mon tool man thats just your insecurities there were a lot of lovely actresses they could have and should have added to the cast as Al's love interest

and have Al marry but they brought in by far one of the homeliest actresses in hollywood to play that role.

To quote a line from the show When they introduced her to Richard Karn in the first rehersal as Al's new loive interest

He should have looked Tim right in the eye and said I DONT THINK SO TIM!!!

I mean whoa this actress fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

I mean would it have killed her to at least have gotten a nose job. I know Im being mean if her looks werent bad enough she was an awful actress.

In closing I apologize for any and all whom I have offended by my post but I felt it needed to be said.

Happy Holidays

What irritated me and if HI fans are truly honest Al's rich wife Trudy was ugly as sin. When they had him dating much prettier women through out the show like the very pretty blonde Al me on TT named Greta. Did Al just have to end up marrying that homely ugly girl Trudy.

I know im gonna catch hell from the female posters for my post. But it wasnt right Al Borland was no brad pitt but he wasnt bad looking either

I always liked Ilene best out of all of Al's relationships.

I'm being honest, and I don't think that was the case at all. Trudy's not my type, but she was not unattractive to me. Right away you strike me as one who thinks that overweight = ugly (I could be wrong), but I just don't understand your comment as if she looked like a monster. Besides, she had a great personality and was highly compatible to Al.

Thats not it at all being overweight wasnt what bothered me about her. Hard is it may seem for you to believe from my earlier post. I prefer women with a little extra weight. Because there are many full figured women who are very lovely. Trudy wasnt a bbw= big beautiful woman and I thought Al deserved to be married to a better looking woman. Right until the very end of the series he dated nice looking women.

Same here, and I think she was quite pretty for her age.

This may be a new concept to SOME people, but there ARE
FAR more important things than looks! Give me a sweet,
homely guy any day of the week, over a handsome, arrogant
jerk!

Like someone said in an earlier post, Trudy & Al seemed
to be very compatible, which IS more important than looks!

Not all good looking guys & girls are jerks. But what I am saying is the writers they could have had him marry Eileen or Greta who were pretty & nice instead of homely rich whacko Trudy. Al got the shaft

Here are some pictures of her. I think she looks great in the black and white picture. I'd never seen that one before. The picture of her in the blue is from "League of their Own" I loved her in that movie! She was hilarious! They billed her as the "ugly" one but she is one of the few that has her dream come true (I don't want to spoil it for anyone). If you haven't seen it, I seriously recommend "League". Such a wonderful movie!

I will agree she does look much better in the black & white photo. The one thing that hurt her looks to me on HI was that awful hairstyle. In the BW pic she has a nice hairstyle and looks better. Another thing that would help her appearance is to get some sun she was pretty pale looking back on HI.
