Default View a Promo clip for The Series Premiere!

This is a clip that introduces us the setting of Perfect Strangers' spin-off, Family Matters! It has clips from the pilot, and of the family talking to the camera!

I wish that scene was included in syndication because I was never a fan of PS and never knew that harriet came from that show. So i was suprised to find out that FM was a spinoff

The Family Matters pilot did shoot a scene with Larry and Balki. They were all (Larry, Balki, Carl, and Harriet) at the Chicago Chronicle. Unfortunately the scene was cut from the final version that aired on ABC. So we never saw it on-air...but they did shoot it. Hopefully we can see this on a DVD of Family Matters or Perfect Strangers as a deleted scene. The scene was briefly seen on a promo though during that summer...not all of it, of course.

Are you sure you're not thinking of the episode of PS where Carl visits Harriet?!

Interesting... May I just ask why another girl played Judy in the pilot?

I'm sure. I have seen that episode unedited and what was in the promo was not ever used in that episode.

Thanks for sharing. Its always good to find lost and forgotten treasures like that. Was there a backdoor pilot for Family Matters on Perfect Strangers or did it simply appear in fall 1989?

No backdoor pilot, but there was an episode where Carl guest starred on Perfect Strangers, and I think from there they decided to spin-off Harriet.
