I don't like Alice's lighter hair. It took me a while to realize who she reminds me of... Rhoda's mom! LOL

You've got a point there.

It's funny. I know this sounds weird but in the pilot Linda Lavin reminded me so much of Valerie Harper because of her hairstyle. Not anymore, but I couldn't help but notice that in the beginning of the run.

I think it was too light. I think she went lighter to hide the gray hairs. Funny though, that color/look is what is the style now. Hair being lightened or streak with highlights.

I think she looked better with darker hair.

I wasn't too fond of the short hairstyle. But near the end of the series, she grew it out again.

Wonder if Linda was trying to imitate Joyce Dewitt's shorter do (after she ditched that overgrown perm hair!)?

When Linda Lavin cut her hair the character of Alice became more unlikeable and boring. She was too busy playing counselor/psychologist to everyone in the diner. She looked far better in seasons 3 & 4 with longer hair and more styled. |

I agree, that LL looked better with longer hair. I thought she looked much better with the lighter hair. She didn't look as "hard" to me.
