Thumbs down Alice's hair

I don't like Alice's lighter hair. It took me a while to realize who she reminds me of... Rhoda's mom! LOL

You've got a point there.

It's funny. I know this sounds weird but in the pilot Linda Lavin reminded me so much of Valerie Harper because of her hairstyle. Not anymore, but I couldn't help but notice that in the beginning of the run.

I think it was too light. I think she went lighter to hide the gray hairs. Funny though, that color/look is what is the style now. Hair being lightened or streak with highlights.

I think she looked better with darker hair.

I wasn't too fond of the short hairstyle. But near the end of the series, she grew it out again.

I sure was not fond of the short hairstyle myself. I loved her hair in seasons 3and 4 when her hair was quite long and stylish.

The new shorter 1980's cut looks odd

Just like when Ann Romano Royer (Bonnie Franklin) from One Day at a Time had her hair cut short later in that series which makes it a coincidence.

Wonder if Linda was trying to imitate Joyce Dewitt's shorter do (after she ditched that overgrown perm hair!)?

You know when Bonnie Franklin had her haircut it brought out more beauty and got rid of the plain Jane look she had during the early seasons of the show, especially Seasons 1 & 2.

Joyce DeWitt when she got rid of that godawful perm she became much more attractive to look at and not so plain looking. Also, they loosen Janet up quite a bit when she stop wearing the perm.

When Linda Lavin cut her hair the character of Alice became more unlikeable and boring. She was too busy playing counselor/psychologist to everyone in the diner. She looked far better in seasons 3 & 4 with longer hair and more styled.

Yeah, she sure sounds like the serious and the smart one. Very level-headed. But remember, she's also a mother who disciplines Tommy.

I agree, that LL looked better with longer hair. I thought she looked much better with the lighter hair. She didn't look as "hard" to me.
