Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night! For over three decades, Saturday Night Live has been a source of young comedic talent that has helped to launch the careers of countless performers, making them household names.
Still considered iconic for their live performances from Studio 8H in New York, the original case of SNL set the tone for years to come with their irreverent, edgy humor. They combined anti-establishment political satire with rock-and-roll attitude for a show that spoke to the youth of the 1970s, turning it into an instant sensation. Although it was only the show’s second year on the air, this season turned out to be the last for Chevy Chase, who became the first cast member to leave the show. To compensate for the loss of Chevy, however, the show brought in a young Bill Murray -- a great addition to the show. Midway into the season, the show would undergo yet another change -- the change to the “Saturday Night Live” title. Cosell’s show was cancelled, and this show finally was able to assume the title it had wanted from the get-go. Also this season, for the one and only time, the show broadcast live from another city -- the Mardi Gras special was broadcast from New Orleans. But more on that a little bit. Great review! I'm personally enjoying season 2 a lot more than season 1. I think the show really became what most people remember in this season. The video quality is better than season 1. The only thing this set needs is more special features. On the best of DVDs for Akroyd, Radner, and Belushi they included featurettes whith cast interviews on the respective volume. WHy aren't these included? What about the clips from talk shows that also appeared on those volumes? Also there is the SNL: The First 5 Years documentary (hopefully this will be included in season 5 set). This included interviews with the original cast and crew. I'm sure there was a good amount of interview footage not used that could have been included in these sets.

Awesome set right here, alot better than the first season, Steve Martin, Eric Idle, Buck Henry and the Elliott Gould ones are awesome, the home resurant skecth from the Fran Tarkenton episode is worth a watch, I think they could do that one today and itd still be funny. There's tons of great stuff in here, and the episode where Belushi accidentally cut Buck hnery's head during a sketch, is on this set, very funny that all wear bandaids later. The musical geusts were pretty good, it was interesting seeing Leo Sayer there LOL
