Peter Tork was also a musician. Micky Dolenz, in an interview for Richard
Lamparski (the "WHATEVER BECAME OF ...?" book series) stated: "Davy and
I were actors and Mike and Peter were musicians. So Davy and I had to learn
to play music, and Mike and Peter had to learn how to act."

I don't know how the four guys got along off-camera, but they seemed to have a great onscreen chemistry.

Michael Nesmith wrote "Different Drum", which was one of Linda Ronstadt's first hits. Singer/songwriter Paul Williams auditioned for the Monkees, but didn't make the final cut.
