Default Was Lucille Ball Really Lucie and Desi Jr's Mother?

I'm only asking this half-seriously, but think about it. How often is it that a woman who has had trouble getting pregnant in her younger years -- tries for a decade, but keeps miscarrying -- then around the age of FORTY, she manages to get pregnant TWICE within 18 months and carry both babies to term? While Lucie and Desi Jr. look so much like Desi, they look nothing like Lucy. And to boot, while Lucille Ball couldn't sing, her daughter has an amazing singing voice. Could it be that Lucie is really Judy Garland's daughter? She's Liza's half-sister! Perhaps after all those failed attempts to get pregnant, Desi and Lucy decided to get a surrogate to have the baby for them? Of course in those days there were no test tube babies, so being a surrogate mother would have to mean getting pregant the old fashioned way. But given his reputation, I don't think Desi would have objected to impregnating a surrogate. Please don't take me seriously here, but wouldn't this be a great story for the tabloids?

Before her voice deepened and she lost her vocal range, she could sing okay. But it was never good enough for the movie studios back in the '40s to not dub her voice with someone else's. The only exception was The Long, Long Trailer, where they did use her voice. It was an adequate voice, not a real singer's voice. Lucie Arnaz has a superb voice. She has a great vocal range, and her voice is clear and powerful. She can belt out a tune with the best of 'em.

well, my mother had about 15 years of miscarriages after my sister's birth in 1963 (I have two brothers older than that) before she had me at 43, so it is possible. Madonna also comes to mind, she had two children at 38 and 41, so she wasn't that much younger than Lucy was when she had two babies in 3 1/2 years

What amazes me abt Lucy and her previous miscarriages and her being pregnant with Desi Jr. is the fact that she even took the chance to film ILL while pregnant. There is a scene in the BLACK EYE episode where she is telling Ethel the "true story" of how she got her black eye. She is describing in detail this beating she took from Ricky and then did this twirl and landed on the couch. It may not seem like much, but to a pregnant woman, that is taking a big chance. What if Lucy had missed the couch and landed on the floor? The fact that she had many miscarriages before I am stunned she even took that kind of risk for that scene. I am sure there is another moment where it seemed dangerous, but I can't think of anymore right now, but that scene sticks out in my head.

I don't think it so strange, my step-mom was white and her first marriage was to a mexican. Her kids looked like their dad and my mom didn't get any credit until she had grandkids. The Latin blood seems to be more dominate.

Lucy could sing fine, Lucie can sing but she can't do comedy to save her life, but did you not SEE Lucy while pregnant for BOTH kids? LOL!

I too never thought Lucie looked anything like her parents.. she has a very large face and strong facial features (which Lucy didn't.. she had more soft features) and I never saw Desi in her which is surprising since his genes seem to be very very dominate.

Well that one could easily be explained away as we've all seen many actresses on TV play pregnant women when they weren't actually pregnant.

I mostly agree with that. I see a little resemblance to Desi in her features. Just a little. I can't put my finger on what it is, but there is something. Not much, but something. But Lucy? Nothing.

Don't get me wrong. No, I'm not saying that's actually what happened. I'm saying if a tabloid wanted to write this story, they probably could. We'd need an actual photo of her showing her pregnant belly -- a Demi Moore type photo -- to prove them wrong. Or DNA evidence.

I guess I am being ignored... ^^^^^

Rick, you kill me Hey, ya never know. Hollywood was always hiding things, making stars sign contracts to refrain some certain things, having celebs go out and being seen in public so as to diffuse any gay rumors, etc.

Although in Lucy's defense, I will say that you can't go by looks. My youngest daughter looks nothing like me. My eldest daughter looks just like me. You would think they had different fathers. No, they didn't. My youngest looks JUST LIKE HER DAD! Same features, bone structure, everything, even his smile and his laugh. It is eerie. My eldest daughter looks nothing like her dad. It amazes me. My sister has 5 kids (really 6 but one passed away) and THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME! They all have my sister's features.
