Ricky Martin 'Outed' By Pal

Latin heartthrob Ricky Martin is facing fresh speculation over his sexuality after his good friend and skin care specialist Ole Henriksen 'outed' the star in a recent magazine interview.

Henriksen was being interviewed by gay Swedish magazine Salonk when he made the comment about Livin' La Vida Loca's sexual preference.

He's quoted as saying, "He (Martin) is a bit more open about it (his homosexuality) these days than he used to be... I don't know if he has a boyfriend."

And when asked who he'd choose to spend a romantic holiday with, Henriksen replied, "I'd go for Stig Tofting (ex Danish soccer player), but since he's straight, I'd say my client Ricky Martin."

I remember when he did Behind The Music several years back, he addressed the rumors by showing his "girlfriend" of many years. It seemed fake, though, like he was going out of his way to show that he was straight. Of course, I never heard anything about their relationship since. I don't care one way or the other...Ricky Martin was over a long time ago.

I agree. At this point what does he have to lose, he's been off the charts much longer at this point than George Michael was when he finally came clean

true, but Ricky did overcompensate for the gay rumors by making up the girlfriend on his Behind The Music that everyone could see past. It's different when you're George Michael/Jodie Foster and just don't talk about your sex life in interviews beforehand than when you're Ricky Martin or Wentworth Miller and use beards for the public when the personal life is a totally different matter.

Ricky's career is over and has been over for several years now, I could understand why he didn't want to say anything that would jeopardize his fame back in the late 90's, but at this point, he's no more relevant than Lance Bass is

to be honest, I think the reason a lot of gay people care so much about seeing celebrities "come out" is because I do believe that with every celebrity who comes out and says they're gay, it does make opinions change more and more. Once upon a time, "gay entertainment" was Boy George, who had some great songs in the 80's I'll give him, but his image in the 80's was precisely the type of negative stereotype given to gay men, that we're all over-the-top, effeminate, drug-using queens. Seeing more and more celebrities coming out has definately helped make a lot of middle of the road people more aware of the fact that there are gays and lesbians out there who aren't that different from them. Seeing someone like T.R. Knight coming out at the height of his career, as a major character on one of TV's top shows, makes a lot of people realize that gay people are out there and they're just like them outside of their preference. At this point, with every celebrity who comes out, it seems like things get just a little bit easier for gay people and they get more "accepted" by the status quo. And considering T.R. has passed the litmus test on Grey's Anatomy, it makes someone like Wentworth Miller look like a coward since Prison Break doesn't get half the audience Grey's gets, yet Wenty is so worried about ruining his "heartthrob" image.

Then add Jodie Foster to the coward's list. Your're right Irene, it's not official. Who has she told in the media that she's gay? After all these years, and she's only graduated to dropping hints. She won't even take her life partner out in public, red carpet, etc. Afraid of hurting her career, I guess. There's cowardice, by your defination, John. I think Jodie owes her fans their money's worth at the Box Office. Same for other gay stars. It begins and ends there.

My opinion will never change. It's a violation of a person's privacy. I don't care if it's a star or my mailman. It's a person's right to tell who they want, when they want, if they want.

well, Jodie isn't really a "coward" because she treats it as a non-issue, she just keeps it private. She doesn't hire good-looking men to escort her to premieres to make her look like a straight woman. Wentworth Miller being gay has been an "open secret" for some time now, there have been candid pictures of him with the guy who plays Scotty on Brothers And Sisters (this guy used to date T.R. Knight) acting the role of a couple yet he brings female beards out to movie premieres or whatever with him because he is afraid being outted would ruin his career, even tho T.R. Knight is a bigger star than him and being gay hasn't affected his career at all.

I think there's a vast different with "my sexuality is nobody's business" than "uh oh, I don't want it getting out that I'm gay so I'll hire a beautiful woman to go to a premiere with me"

A performer owes their audience nothing but their money's worth. Not every gay person wants to be an activist or help causes or make it easy for other gays. They owe you or anyone else nothing.

Taking an escort to a premiere is the same as going solo and leaving your gay partner of 12 years home alone. Huge double-standard you have going on there. I don't care who takes who to what, but if you're going to care, be fair about it. Jodie gets a pass. You're hammering away at some guy I've never heard of. His obligation to his fans is giving them a good performance. It begins and ends there. Again, it's none of your business, and none of my business. Who takes who where, tells who what. We don't own performers. Their lives are their own.
