Any TV Guide Collectors?
Do any of you collect TV Guides? I have an online pen-pal who, incredibly,
has managed to amass all 2800+ issues. I don't have anywhere that number but do have over 500 issues. My most-prized issues include: Date & Cover Subject 9/18/53 1st Fall Preview Issue 9/25/53 George Reeves of SUPERMAN [Reprint] 6/25/54 Buffalo Bob Smith & Howdy Doody 7/2/54 Joan Davis & Jim Backus of I MARRIED JOAN 5/14/55 Perry Como [Reprint] 5/21/55 Jackie Gleason & Audrey Meadows 6/30/56 Bob Cummings 9/8/56 Elvis Presley [Reprint] 1/26/57 Bob Hope by Al Hirschfeld [my favorite cover artist] 5/25/57 Sid Caesar by Hirschfeld 12/14/57 Walt Disney 6/14/58 Robert Young & Jane Wyatt of FATHER KNOWS BEST 1/10/59 Milton Berle by Hirschfeld 5/6/61 Donna Reed 7/1/61 THE FLINTSTONES 9/16/61 Fall Preview Issue 12/2/61 Joey Bishop 2/17/62 Danny Thomas 3/31/62 Alan Young and Mister Ed 11/10/62 THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES 3/30/63 BONANZA [with 2nd cover: Bullwinkle & "Ben Casey"] 4/20/63 Red Skelton 5/11/63 THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW [Reprint] 11/2/63 Ray Walston & Bill Bixby of MY FAVORITE MARTIAN 5/29/65 Elizabeth Montgomery & Dick York of BEWITCHED 7/10/65 Fred Gwynne & Yvonne DeCarlo of THE MUNSTERS 9/11/65 Fall Preview Issue 10/2/65 Don Adams & Barbara Feldon of GET SMART 1/15/66 Robert Culp & Bill Cosby of I SPY 2/5/66 Barbara Eden & Larry Hagman of I DREAM OF JEANNIE 3/26/66 Adam West of BATMAN [Reprint] 6/11/66 GILLIGAN'S ISLAND 1/28/67 THE MONKEES 3/4/67 William Shatner & Leonard Nimoy of STAR TREK 12/17/77 ONE DAY AT A TIME 7/28/79 Bill Bixby & Lou Ferrigno of THE INCREDIBLE HULK |

I got about 10-15. Almost all are from the 70's. There is an antique shop where I live that sells them every once in a while for like 2 dollars and they really aren't in bad condition at all.

'80s and '90s. As a kid, I had a bunch from the '60s but I didn't save them. I also had a bunch of TV comics back then, which got thrown out. But I've managed to replace some of them (and found some others that I had never read before). When I used to work at the local hospital, I had some extra spending money and bought a lot of cool stuff on eBay (esp. between April 2000 and May 2005, when I bought about 500 different items, mostly TV memorabilia). Ah, those were the days. Now I can barely make ends meet. But eBay is a collector's paradise, if you can afford it. Good luck! |

I have about ~10 TV Guides, but not all of them are actual TVG mags... I just buy the ones that have Vicki Lawrence or Stepfanie Kramer on the cover.
