A Little Movie Trivia
Stan Laurel ate more than his stout colleague Oliver Hardy.
Walt Disney spent over a million dollars on "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." It took three years to make that first full-length cartoon. Spanky McFarland (of Our Gang, better known as The Little Rascals) became tired of being his own stand-in. He complained. So the studio made a wooden image of Spanky, which was jointed and could be made pose in any position. Shirley Temple's family tree was traced back through pre-Revolutionary New England to Old England. When the child star lost a tooth on a movie set, production on the picture was held up three days until a bridge was made to replace the missing molar. Harpo Marx never talked in pictures, but off screen he was a fine conversationalist. Walt Disney started his career by selling newspapers. |
