I bought a new laptop with Windows Vista on it back in July and I really haven't used much of Microsoft Office on it until now. It says that my trial will expire on Feb. 29. and i will have to purchase it after that date. So Microsoft office doesnt come with computers anymore? I have several window's XP's in my house and they all have Microsoft Office permanantly, and i assumed they just came with the computer for free. Do I have to buy Microsoft office for my vista? I only use MS word, nothing else so i think its stupid for myself to waste money on it just for that. Can i at least continue to use a limited version of MS word after its expired?

I have never got a computer recently that came with Office. I think the last office I got that came with a computer was Office 97, and I think it was because of the type of computer I got. I bought a laptop in August that came with and Office Demo, that I can only use 30 times or something like that. It did come with the Works suite tho, and I think that's what they put free on most computers now.

Hmm, that's weird. I have vista too, but microsoft office came with it. I don't have to pay for anything.

It depends on the computer you purchase I guess. I got a CD of Corel Wordperfect free with my laptop (which I didn't use).
Even if you don't get to keep Office, if it's the 2007 version it's definitely worth buying. I bought Office 2007 Standard and I love it.

I bought a new computer last week, with Windows Vista as well. On the desktop, there's an icon for a 60-day free trial of "Micosoft Office Home and Student 2007". It asks me to click and install. I don't know what that's about, but I ignored it.
I went to Start, then 'All Programs', and saw that I have "Microsoft Works Task Launcher" installed permanently, free. When I click on that I have Microsoft Word and Works Spreadsheet. That's my experience. Your best bet is to call the company who makes the computer. First, I would take a look at what you have in Programs. Good luck.

I got that too. The laptop is long gone, but that CD remains.
