Exclamation I WAS WRONG: June IS off the wall!

Big Mea culpa here. I guess I hadn't seen enough episodes to realize, that while June is a loving and a really nice person, she is almost pathologicaly overprotective. She and Ward left the boys alone for one night. Wally had to be at least 15, and June wanted to call home every hour. June was sure that something would go wrong. In that case, something did go wrong. She spends her life with a worried look on her face. She reminds me of an aunt I had. She coddles those boys. If this was real life, they would grow up to be the biggest Mommy's boys.

I haven't heard Wally or Beaver complain about her though, but I haven't seen all the episodes. It's a good thing she had Ward to keep her somewhat grounded. She worried for a hobby.

I'm not a parent or anything but I think it's one of those things about being a mother does. They just are overly protective and if I recall, this is the second or third episode where Wally watches Beaver. Unless they did it other times when the episodes didn't air.

Well, we tried to tell ya Janice. But like you said, you have to see things for yourself. June was definitely a loving mother and a beautiful wife to Ward. But! she did have her overprotective moments that just seemed to scream "ENOUGH!!!" Nowadays, many kids could use that kind of overprotection love and concern.

I can be overprotective at times with my son, but he is 6 years old and he can be rambunctious. I had my moments with my girls too, but eventually you learn to just let them be free and allow yourself to be free from worrying yourself sick.

Knowing you, it's sugar-free, so no worries. If not, well I think Rich owes you a new keyboard.

Plus the mop she used while mopping the floor in her Sunday best: a dress and pearls.

For shame...what was I thinking? Apparently I wasn't.

I love how Janice used the term "off the wall"...who would ever have seen that term and June Cleaver used in the same sentence. I love that term, I use it A LOT!

And the dress so crisply pressed you could cut an apple on one of the creases.

I don't think that June is off the wall overall, just at certain times when she gets waaaaay overprotective of "the boys". I like the character a great deal actually. She's very sweet, sincere, loving and an exceptional wife and mother. She just goes over the top sometimes.
