Default a little TV-based task for you guys

choose 5 of your favourite shows, pick your favourite character from each one of them to form your own ideal sitcom/ drama cast

Any ground rules? Time travel okay - a character like so-and-so in the present day?

Because, if you're like my parents, and your favorites (the ones they have all the DVDs of anyway) are Hogan's Heroes and Cheers, you have some serous time and space discrepancies...

But, that's probably wwhat makes it a fun challenge, seeing how people do it. This is an interesting idea. Just not sure what I'd do in trying to pick 1 character from each; it would be quite interesting. I just know that Bill Cosby's character of Cliff Huxtable would be one; I really like his comedy.

Of course, i could go off the baord, away from The Cosby Show, and pick several inept people plus Col. Klink (Hogan's Heroes) as the head of some business that employs them all. :-)

well the only stipulations are that 1) it has to be a show which already exists or had existed before it ended and 2) the characters have to be reoccuring or are/were regulars from their original show

my first choice has to got to be marc st james from ugly betty and i'd have him as the main character on my show. i could see him in his own show and he could really carry it off. i'll think of the other choices and add them later

Ok I'm brand new to the board but this was too fun not to jump in! I have no idea what this bunch of characters would do, as far as the plot of the show or whatever, but here's my group:

Dietrich, from Barney Miller
Gregory House, from House
Louis DePalma, from Taxi
Carla, from Cheers
Tim Canterbury, from The Office (British version)

I've always thought there should be a crossover somehow so Danny and Rhea could play their iconically rotten characters off of each other, so they were a no-brainer. The rest, I just would love to see them all sitting around snarking on each other with varying levels of humor and nastiness and wit and irony and ire from Louie - high on the nasty, low on the wit to Dietrich, all about the irony, and Tim and his sort of wacky humor. The very idea of him putting Louie's keys in jello just makes me smile...

Is this the sort of thing you were going for?

yeah, you got the general gist of this. . don't worry about what the characters will do because with the characters you have chosen, you opted for those ones because you think they would work well on your type of show
