Default Things you've been given that you didn't like...

Whether it is a gift or anything like that, have you received something you didn't like, couldn't use, etc?

Yesterday my son received a belated birthday gift from my dear friend. I love her to death. However, for the second time my son received a gift that I would never buy him. It is one of those Nerf guns that shoots nerf-type bullets at this target. I never ever bought my kids any type of gun-type toy. I didn't want my kids to think it was ok that guns can be perceived as toys. Not to mention the danger of hurting someone with a projectile. OUCH! My son had received from his half-sister last Christmas this similar toy gun that had these rubber-type bullets. I hid that toy one day until my son forgot abt it and then I threw it away. I guess I will have to do that again for this toy.

Years ago, someone bought me a perfume called 'Youth Dew' and I wasn't even old enough to wear stuff like that!
Anyways, I ended up giving it to mom so she could take a sniff and it made her so out the door it went.

Perfumes, candles and scented bath oils. I never use them.

It's hard to buy for a man...seriously!!!! I have no idea what to buy my guy for Christmas. I bought him lots of shirts last year and to be honest, I don't want to buy more clothes for him because I have to wash them, fold them and put them away.

Some type of cotton candy and gummy bear sprays... uh it was so sweet smelling and gave me the worst headache. Plus I'm not one for smelling like carnival food. I tossed those.

In past few years I haven't gotten any useless gifts so I can't really complain

That's pretty much been my philosophy, too. Unless the gift is something I already have, then I'll tell the gift-giver so we can work out some kind of exchange.

The same thing kinda happened at my daughters birthday party. A friend of our bought those big water guns to their birthday party, and I hid those from everyone and at the end of the night I threw them away. Like you I don't like any kind of gun toy.

Also one of our wedding presents was this huge ugly green and red vase, I returned it and bought some nice flatware.
