Question Did Michael (Karen's husband) work on the Alaska Pipeline?

I was looking over the entry for TWY at Wikipedia, and it stated that Michael went to Alaska to work on the Alaska Pipeline. I do not ever recall it being said specifically that that was his line of work up there. In fact, I don't remember anything said at all of what he did up in the Land of the Midnight Sun.

Any thoughts?

I don't remember that being said either. It could probably just be made up - some foolish kid trying to be funny.

I did a little research on the Alaska Pipeline and come to find out, construction was started in 1974, but Karen and Michael married and moved in spring of 1972. It was never expressly stated on the show that was the job he had gotten. But if the writers intended to imply that he went to work on the Pipeline, it would have been an anachronism.

They did move to Alaska right after their wedding. Karen was afraid to tell her dad they were moving to Alaska, in that episode they did say they went to Alska so Karen's husban could work on the Alaska pipelines. They never really came out and say for sure if he had gotten the job or not. Maybecaused they realized the pipelines didn't start until 74.

Wikipedia isn't the most accurate sometimes, and I don't remember it being said specifically either, they just said that they were moving to Alaska because was going to get a job there.

I only remember Norma chiding Karen for not telling her about going to Alaska. She said "We are you parents!" in the next scene after they were presented that cake with the sparklers reading "Alaska or bust". Why didn't they show Jack's reaction? Wouldn't it have been appropriate for the viewing audience, given the fact he overreacted and screamed "I HAVEN'T CHANGED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" after we met Michael at the house she was renting the previous season?

Back to the Wikipedia entry ... I went there and saw in the description for Michael (Karen's husband) that Jack was dismayed to learn he would be moving to Alaska to work on the Alaska Pipeline, only to come to terms when he considered he moved Norma 1,000 miles from home. (Remember when Jack said "Know what I remember? I moved you a thousand miles away from home!" or something similar.)

I take that to mean that Jack had a talk with Karen after learning of her move to the Land of the Midnight Sun after Norma's "We are your parents!" speech. Did the pipeline revelation take place off camera?

Check it out at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wonder_Years See the description for Michael under the Minor Characters section.
