Angry What a Waste of Money!

Ugh! I have this Samsung mp3 player that I bought in Feb 2006. And now....apparently it's nothing more than trash less than 2 years later. I used to have to use Napster to upload music onto it. Now Napster won't let recognize any portable device unless you subscribe to their service. Never had to before! So I try to use Windows Media Player to upload. It tells me that my driver is too out of date and isn't compatible with WMP 11 and suggests I roll back to 10. I don't want to roll back! Ok...firmware upgrade. I can do that. I go to Samsung's website. Well, apparently this thing is sooooo old that they don't even recognize that it is a product of theirs. I look around the net...no sign of any firmware upgrades. So this $170 thing is more obsolete than a record player.

Anyone have any ideas?? Man...technology really sucks sometimes. Betterment of life my butt.

Sounds like you've discovered the wonderful world of DRM. I do believe there are third party programs out there that might work. I am not that up to date on mobile digital media players as I don't listen to much music, but I do know that there are groups of dedicated people working to get past DRM restrictions through 3rd party programs, cracks, modded firmware, ect, and you may not be out of luck completely.

Where could I find such resources? Or what should I type into a search engine?

Sorry to hear that, sweetie...sometimes these new gadgets are more trouble than they're worth.

You can say that again! I've been looking around the internet and it looks like this particular player was never good to begin with nor has anyone ever really been able to upgrade it without sending it in. What a hassle.

Oh well...I just charged it and it's down to 2 bars already, and the driver likes to skip songs and suddenly stop playing, so I guess I'm not out much. YH-820MC.

And to think it took me a long time to even buy an mp3 player. I should have stuck with my CDs!

You should buy a Coby MP3.... 240 songs for only $20.00! and you don't even have to charge it. It runs on AA batteries!
