Default Shows with a great final season

How about shows with a great final season. Ones that come to mind are:

The Dick Van Dyke Show
The Mary Tyler Moore Show
The Bob Newhart Show
The Golden Girls
I Love Lucy (some will argue here but many of my favorite episodes are from Season 6)

Murphy Brown - some will say it was the worst ever because of the breast cancer storyline (and with the season coming in at 75th, you'd probably argue with me) but I personally loved it. The show was definitely growing old after 9 seasons, so Murphy having cancer in the tenth season showed us how Murphy was tough, and it also showed us the things we've been seeing since day 1.

Good TImes even though it was kinda rushy since every 5-10 minutes somebody got something good happening to them.

Boy Meets World - i always thought the last season was one of the best. Cory and Topanga finally got married and the show just got funnier, especially over the bland Season 6.

Who's the Boss? - i wouldn't say it was 'great' because it was a little dull at times, but the last season was just the perfect ending after 7 years of seeing if Tony and Angela would get together, and they finally did. it wasn't the funniest season but it was a nice ending and a way to keep things fresh, especially after it got a little stale in Season 7.

Everybody Loves Raymond - it wasn't exceptional or anything, but i think this was one of the few shows that never really got stale. it started to slide a little bit in Season 8 with the whole Robert's in-laws plotlines but they rebounded in Season 9.

Frasier - Seasons 8-10 were average at best, but the 11th season was great. Christopher Lloyd came back to the show after leaving at the end of the 7th season and the writing was top notch for the most part with a lot of memorable episodes like "The Doctor is Out" and "High Holidays". I thought the final episode was one of the best series finales ever.

yeah i agree, the last season was awful and the plots were really lame, even for Full House. the show was cutesy through-out it's entire run but the first three or four seasons definitely aren't as bad as the last three or four.

Definitely. The first season was actually one of my favorites, because the men actually cussed a few times, and the stories were much more mature. By the final season, they were doing stories that 3 year olds would laugh to - Michelle bringing home that dumb donkey, Comet running away, just to name a few.

Full House deffinitly got better, and a lot less cute, the show was NOT as sappy as earlier! The last season had good episodes, the Comet one was cool, we got to see Comets view of the world, and the donkey one was fuuny too, like when Danny blew up that picture of his great uncle and everyone made fun of it, then the donkey eats it and puts it's head on the body saying what eveyone was thinking (jack ass). There were deffinitly adult storylines like Kimmy getting drunk, Steph going to a make party, Steph going in the car with those crazy driving boys, and Jesse gets dumped by his band, and DJ decides she doesn't really love Nelson or Viper, and gets her true love back at the end (Steve).

I couldn't agree more (You knew I'd say that, didn't you, roseanne? LOL). Season 10 was awesome. It showed us there was so much more to Murphy, and Candice, than we had ever guessed. If ever there was a show that could make cancer funny, it was this one. It was a really classy way to handle such a tough topic.

I also have to agree with what someone else said about Mary Tyler Moore. (Again, I'm sure no one's surprised by that!) But I honestly don't think there's a bad episode at all in Season 7. It's like the writers knew this was their last year, so they put their hearts into it. They really went out w/ some of the best eps. of the series, IMO.

I should have known you'd reply-LOL. Yeah, Murphy's last season was great. A fresh new start to the show, in my opinion. The season 8 and 9 episodes were definitely wearing thin, and a change had to come in eventually. I was just so glad they changed it with ease, and not change the entire show around.

yeah i agree...the show started off a lot more mature then it ended. the first 3 seasons were more of a "family" show, after that it gradually got less and less mature, and by Season 6 or 7 it was a full-blown kiddie show. i think the official nail in the coffin was the birth of the twins...the show just totally went downhill from that point on IMO.
