Question Whose landmark was the best suggestion?

Okay, recall the episode "Castaway Pictures Presents..." where they were making that rescue movie. Remeber when the Skipper was trying to show where the island was located and he used Hawaii as a nationally known landmark. Then Mr. Howell came in and said Fort Knox would be much more appropriate. Ginger suggested Hollywood ("if you want a landmark, Hollywood is here!"), and then MaryAnn came in with the suggestion of "our Nation's capital; Washington, DC". The Professor then came into the argument but I don't think we ever heard his opinion.

I was just wondering which landmark you guys thought was the best for their purpose.

Debate.

The thing about this episode that I've always wondered is: why go through the process of making a movie? The Minnow's disappearance at sea was big news therefore people would remember them. All they had to do was to write on the chalkboard or on paper who they were and what happen and that they were all safe and sound and then just get a shot of them. It seems to me that would have saved them, since the movie was found. If I'm remembering right, they never identified themselves as the passengers of the Minnow and that was another strange thing.

That is what I have always said...even back in the day.

As for the question asked, it is only common sense to make Hawaii the landmark. Why choose something so far away as Washington D.C.??? Hell, even Hollywood was the next best choice.

A long time ago when the castaways' movie was discussed, Irene and I both wondered why they didn't just write it out on paper or on the chalkboard----or if they used the map to draw a circle and write "search area" inside it...

oh well, I guess logical wouldn't have been as entertaining!...

I've got to go with Hawaii as being the most logical landmark

Oh yeah, I remember discussing that. Thank you for reminding me of that.

Yeah, there is no logic in the sitcom world...but it sure is fun to nitpick and pick apart the shows with fellow fans.
