Turnips Ignored Again On Thanksgiving - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Millions of Americans ignored Turnips again this year, turning thier attention to much more popular and better tasting food served at the Thanksgiving table.

"I really don't know why I make turnips year after year," Rhode Island Mother Jennifer Milton commented as her family ate their Thanksgiving dinner. "I made them because my Aunt loved them, but she's been dead for about ten years now. I guess I still make it out of habit. Now it's some sort of tradition I guess."

In a nationwide poll conducted after dinner revelaed a staggering 93% of Thanksgiving dinner guests passed the turnips on to the person seating next to them and filled up on mashed potatos, Grandma's kickass stuffing, and the cranberry sauce that comes out of a can.

I've never even tried turnips, but they don't look very appetizing.

Are you crazy? They should be OUTLAWED!!!! Just kills me that the government is going after the big tobacco companies about 2nd hand smoke and all when they leave turnip farmers alone to mass produce these hazardous veggies. They're as bad a the Columbians with their marijuana fields I tell you!

What about the 2nd hand stench of the turnip / rutabaga? And what's with that wax coating on the outside anyway? What are the preventing from getting out? Or getting in?

I've been to many a holiday dinner where people were dropping like flies just being in the same room with 2 of the reddish brown devils! It's not a pretty site!

And don't even get me started on parsnips!

But personally, I love them mashed with some salt & sugar added. They get eaten at my house!
