Jack Lemmon

Actually, that isn't too surprising considering that the show is now in its 19th
season and the frequency of guest stars (often ones who have been around
for decades).

Seems high to me, considering there are some very famous people on that list, for the most part.

Phil Hartman just didn't DIE, he was murdered by his insane wife who then killed herself. He had years ahead of him as a regular on The Simpsons. Some of the guest stars were older (Rodney Dangerfield) but some weren't that old (Robert Goulet was only in his early 70s).

I agree.

Lots of those folks were getting on in years when they appeared on the show.

That may be but it's still a fairly high number plus several were only in their mid-late 50's when they died including Joey Ramone, Dee Dee Ramone, Johnny Ramone, Linda McCartney, Jim Varney, Barry White, John Entwistle & George Harrison. Also there's 9 musicians/singers on the list. The 7 I just named plus Johnny Cash & Tito Puente so that seems high to me.
