I was just wondering where we all stand on the strike issues, so I posted a couple of polls to see.
So if you had a say in deciding this thing, who do you think should get what they want here? Who do you think is right/wrong? Vote who you think should have their demands met, the producers or the writers. |

The WGA should get what they want. There's no doubt about it.

I'm on the writers side, they should get the recognition and money for their work. The strike hasn't affected anything yet, there are still new episodes being shown at the moment.

Yeah, I feel the same way. I think this is crucial for the writers, and if they don't get a piece of this pie now that'll be it for them. The whole internet tv thing is the absolute future of tv watching, I think, and they are due their fair compensation and share of it. Now is the time and I hope they don't fold without getting their recognition in that area!

i'm definitely on the writers side. the producers/networks are just being greedy.
some of the writers are going a little too far with their striking though, like forcing TV shows to stop taping or the whole Ellen thing. |

There's some stuff I agree with the WGA on, some stuff I don't. I agree they should get the DVD residuals. The big companies like Sony, Viacom and the like should be able to give the writers raises without having to screw the consumer over.
I really don't agree 100% with the whole internet thing; as I mentioned in other threads. I just hope the average viewer doesn't get screwed more than they already are and have to suffer because they can't see their favorite show when it normally airs. I agree wholeheartedly that they are not being fair by treating Ellen like garbage. For God's sake, her show is a TALK SHOW. She can move on without the writers and I'm sure she's got a warm spot for them when they come back after the strike. She can interview the guests, dance with the audience and have musical guests without them. I hate that the viewer gets screwed out of their favorite shows. Shows' seasons and so forth possibly ending on crappy notes. Scrubs may not get a proper finale. I admit, I'm not a big fan or loyal watcher of the show, but at the same time IMO it's completely and totally wrong for a show that's run seven seasons to not end properly. That is just wrong and the fans don't deserve that. |

I think both sides are being very selfish about this whole strike (the writer's because they're abrupting the telelvision season, and hurting a lot of great new shows, and the networks because they won't give in already). In the end, though, I chose the WGA, only because it is fair for them to strike, because they should be getting they're demands fulfilled. Very selfish, though, of them to do it in the middle of the season.

I'm not supporting either side. They're both idiots.

I think this strike could very well ruin the television industry much like how the recording industry has been ruined over the past few years. What's next? the movie industry?

Stop screwing the innocent hairdressers and costume people, etc. That makes me angry. Poor people forced out of work, and then get nothing for it afterwards.
