Question About the Blacksmith - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I was reading about the recent passing of actor James Jeter who played Hans Dorfler and was wondering if he and Ira Hartwig were the only Blacksmiths in town? I haven't seen this show in quite awhile so my memory is somewhat vague.

That's sad. I liked the Hans character.

Wasn't John Carter working in the blacksmith shop? I don't know if he did it regularly, but I remember him working there when Sarah's dad came to visit.

I thought John and Sarah ran the newspaper together, but maybe he did the occasional odd job.

The blacksmith was the one who raped Sylvia, if I'm not mistaken.

That character was Irv Hartwig, and he was only the blacksmith for that one(actually a two-parter) episode.
Hans was the regular blacksmith on most of the earlier episodes(like when Laura was racing Bunny).
