Hello fellow UM lovers,
Ever thought of a nickname we should give ourselves? My boyfriend came up with the term "Stackies". A Stackie is to Unsolved Mysteries as a Trekkie is to Star Treck. Any ideas? Stackie(s) Definition: Person or group of persons that have an unabashed and never-ending enthusiasm about the reality-based series Unsolved Mysteries, despite the fact that show is no longer on the air and its rerun time-slot kept getting reshuffled on Lifetime. Also thinks that Robert Stack was the bomb and keeps scratching their heads on who should replace him. Hobbies include: -surfing websites of doenetwork.org and charleyproject.org -constantly trying to find clips of the show on THAT unmentionable website -scouring the web to find updates on cases previously featured on show to get some kind of closure -complaining to Lifetime about pulling the show off its schedule -hoping that Spike TV won't muck up the remake version. -constant debating on which police sketch was creepiest

I like Stackies. Robert Stack just ruled - not only as the host of UM, but in the movie Airplane as well.

Robert Stack also did a funny cameo in the unfortunate film BASEketball.
Was the only time in the movie where I laughed out loud. He seems like a real sport who did not take himself too seriously and had a sense of humor about his role in UM. |

They're also called Trekkers and there is this whole possible Trekkie vs. Trekker thing...its so weird. It's a good thing you're trying to establish a nickname now to avoid possible nickname wars later on.
