Default Charlie's Family

Charlie's Family

Starring Patricia Wettig and Patricia Kalember as Janine and Corrine, two very close-knit sisters whose widowed-then-remarried father (Charlie) had passed away, and now decide to call a truce from disliking their stepmom, Barbara (Ann-Margaret) and younger half-sister, Lisa (Kristen Johnston). Janine and Corrine always resented their late father for remarrying and starting a new family so soon after their mother (Norah) died of breast cancer back when they were younger. But while attending their father's funeral, both Janine and Corrine decide it's time to make amends with Barbara and Lisa. Janine, Corrine, and Lisa are all happily married to their handsome, loving husbands. Janine's husband, Mitch (Tim Matheson) is a successful, well-liked orthodontist. Corrine's husband, Greg (Mark Moses) is a hardworking accountant. Lisa's husband, Carlos (Ricardo Antonio Chavira) is a self-employed handyman. Janine and Mitch have two children: the beautiful and headstrong 21-year-old Claire (Kristen Bell) and the hunky and popular 19-year-old Shawn (Chace Crawford). Corrine and Greg have two children: the cute and bright 18-year-old Danielle (Ellary Porterfield) and the quiet yet opinionated 16-year-old Luke (Connor Paolo). Lisa and Carlos do not have any children and enjoy it that way, for now. The Gallaghers and Harrises bond and reconnect with Barbara, Lisa, and Carlos on a personal level, now that Charlie is gone. Also, in flashbacks, the spirit of late Charlie (James Garner) comes and talks with Janine, Corrine, Lisa, and Barbara periodically, and the spirit of late Norah comes and talks with Janine and Corrine periodically as well.

Janine and Corrine decide to make amends with Barbara and Lisa, after years of never considerating them "true family". Barbara, Lisa, Janine, Corrine, and family all attend Charlie's funeral. At the funeral, Claire gives a tearful speech about her grandfather, as Carlos also speaks a few words at the funeral about his father-in-law.

Ep2: Sad Times, Sad News:
Janine becomes sad when the family goes through Charlie's stuff, and come to realize her late dad's beloved wedding ring is missing (which she was going to inherit from him). Janine, with Mitch and Corrine in tow, march down to the funeral home, in hope of talking to the funeral director (Ryan Stiles) about the missing wedding ring. Just as Mitch and Corrine receive the ring from another funeral home employee, Janine ends up regretting blowing up at the director of funeral home. Meanwhile, Barbara comes across some personally devastating news.

Ep3: Seconds, Not Like The Firsts:
Barbara discovers Charlie had never changed Barbara over to become his beneficiary after his first wife, Norah had died and he remarried. Barbara becomes saddened that she isn't listed as beneficiary, as Janine, Corrine, and Lisa are upsetted that Charlie either forgot or didn't even think about changing it over for Barbara. Corrine informs Barbara that she has nothing to worry about, since the three girls are now named beneficiary (after Norah's death) and that they will share the inheritance with her.

Ep4: Friday's Child:
Claire signs up to work at a blood drive, which causes her to convince her family to donate blood, and everyone does--except for Carlos and Shawn who both share the fear of needles secretly. Meanwhile,

Ep5: What's Two More?:
Corrine and Greg celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary by going out of town for the weekend, but Corrine frustrates herself when she can't get intimate with Greg without worrying about her kids being home alone or her sisters left to take care of the important procedures after Charlie's death. Greg isn't upset and the two just enjoy the night with each other's company and get a good night's sleep--but in the morning, intimacy is found.

Ep6: The Virgin Suicide:
Danielle becomes saddened after finding out her longtime best friend just recently committed suicide, over such a juvenile reason--people caught in her a lie about her virginity, and her friend apparently could not handle it which caused her suicide. Danielle becomes extremely angered with her newly deceased friend, enough to not want to go to her funeral. After days and days of convincing, Corrine has convinced Danielle that she needs to go to her funeral for closure purposes (if nothing else). Danielle mentally pours her heart out as it is her time up at the casket, then is confronted by Corrine.

Ep7: Boyfriends Of A Certain Age:
Claire begins to find herself falling for unlikely man of her dreams - her fortysomething mechanic, Jaoquin (Julio Oscar Mechoso). Claire brings her new older boyfriend with her to a Sunday brunch at Lisa and Carlos's house, where her parents, relatives, and brother, at first, aren't overly fond of Claire dating Jaoquin--but by the end of day, everyone ends up liking Jaoquin (except for Janine and Mitch, who fears Jaoquin will mistreat her). Claire becomes offended by her parents when they comment about being irresponsible and not thinking when she agreed to go out with him. Jaoquin has a man-to-man talk with Mitch about him dating Claire, and results in Mitch being tolerant of Jaoquin dating his daughter as long as his feelings are genuine. Janine later comes to her senses and apologizes to Claire and "accepts" the fact of Claire dating Jaoquin.

ADDITION TO THE CAST:
Julio Oscar Mechoso as Jaoquin Chavez (Claire's older boyfriend)
