Default Week 8 Ratings : Another Solid Ratings Week

The Big Bang Theory did another very solid ratings week, in its final ratings week before it enters repeats. For the 8th consecutive week it beat How I Met Your Mother, and once again clobbered Chuck. It is way ahead of The Class's ratings last year. Let's hope these writers allow the show to continue its momentum in the near future.

Here are the ratings :

Quote:
The Big Bang Theory (Viewers: #2, 9.39 million; A18-49: #2, 3.8/ 9). Worth positively noting is the ongoing growth for The Big Bang Theory out of both How I Met Your Mother and year-ago occupant The Class (Viewers: 8.44 million; A18-49: 3.0/ 8).
For comparitive purposes here is How I Met Your Mother and Chuck for this week :

How I Met Your Mother (Viewers: #2, 8.58 million; A18-49: #2, 3.3/ 9)

Chuck (Viewers: #3, 7.56 million; A18-49: #4, 3.0/ 7)

The 3.8 in the 18-49 demo is the highest of the season, and the growth over HIMYM's 3.3, and last year's The Class 3.0 is terrific.

It odd how we thought the show had leveled out at around 8 million viewers, but all of a sudden, it's noe evening out at 9.5 million viewers. Anyways, it good to hear. Too bad we have to sit through repeats from now on . . .

The Big Bang Theory posted season highs on its demos. From CBS Press Release :

Quote:
At 8:30PM, THE BIG BANG THEORY was second in households (5.8/08), viewers (9.32m), adults 25-54 (4.5/10) and adults 18-49 (3.8/09). THE BIG BANG THEORY built on its HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER lead-in by +9% in households, +15% in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 and added +900,000 viewers. THE BIG BANG THEORY posted season highs in both adults 18-49 and adults 25-54, up +2% in (from 4.4/10), +3% in adults 18-49 (from 3.7/09) compared to last week.

Maybe with the strike I'll give this show a shot if the reruns are airing.

I was thinking the same thing a few weeks ago. The show has been doing really good for 2 full months, so I think it will definitely be picked up for a second season.

I've gotten so used to the show being on every week, I'm going to miss it on Mondays for however long this strike goes on for. Oh well, hopefully they air all the episodes again. I'll sure be tuning in.

This show is now the ONLY new show on network TV to have exceeded its premiere number in the 18-49 demo.

The show got a premiere 18-49 demo of 3.7, and it got a season high 3.8 yesterday.

That it quite an accomplishment.

That is quite an accomplishment. Actually, isn't it the only new show to do that this season (except for Samantha Who?) No doubt CBS will be renewing it. For a sitcom to become one of the season's biggest hits nowadays, CBs better renew it.

Samantha Who, although doing very well, has not beat its premiere demo. Also, we will find out about Samantha Who when it moves to 9:00 in two weeks. Right now it is feeding of the Dancing With The Stars lead in.

As to The Big Bang Theory, it was almost a lock for a second season renewal if it kept up the ratings. With the writers strike now all bets are off. I have no idea when it will return to production, and what CBS will do with it.

I think if the strike is a long one, it will probably get renewed. Their might not be any pilots being made so a lot of the current shows will be renewed and BBT is one of the higher rated new shows.

I agree. And hopefully other, low-rated freshman series will be renewed because they didn't get the chance to prove themselves, because their season's were all shortened.

As far as ratings go, is this the most successful sitcom in the last few years?

The way I look at it, it's the most successful new series this season. It's the only newcomer to beat out it's premiere numbers, plus for a sitcom which doesn't cost much to produce, it's a big payoff to the advertises, too

I'm almost certain it'll be back. This show was just starting to prove itself. With the strike in full gear, CBS will obviously try to pick up this show where it left off this season, if the season ends with no more new episodes than what we've got.
