When I get flamed, I notice that nothing is done about it when I report it, and I am the one always being blamed!!!!

Which board are you getting flamed at? When you *have* gotten flamed, have you bothered to press the "Report Post" button below your avatar/join date/post count? That button allows us to get to posts causing trouble more quickly. In addition, as I currently don't have it set to receive reported posts from *every* sub-forum, if sometimes if it seems as though you can't reach TJ, the site owner and primary admin, it helps to PM me. I'm around more often usually..

Why are you bringing something up from 6 months ago? It was handled then. Your reported post was not dismissed. Have you had any problems with that particular poster since then? Stop living in the past and move forward.

Some people whine and complain and want people banned or suspended over small things. The ignore list is there for you to use it.

troi_trouble: I've seen your same kind of whining and complaining on various Yahoo Groups when you don't get your way. You are way too sensitive for these message boards.

TJ, I beg to differ! I do NOT "whine & complain just 'cause I don't get my way"! I don't think you are being fair in blaming & judging me!

I have a right to bring something up if I feel it was not resolved properly! Oh, and incidentally, which Yahoo groups are you referring to, anyway?

What else could have possibly been done to resolve it in your eyes? Have there been any other problems since the original incident? Yes or no?

Actually, one time he DID make another comment and all you said to me was, and I do quote by copying & pasting:

Quote:
Oh please, give me a break already. Just add him to your ignore
list. That is not harassment. You shouldn't be so
sensitive. Please stop crying wolf.
The "ignore list" ONLY band-aids the problem! It DOESN'T solve it!

Somebody telling you that you should have recorded something is not harassment.

The ignore list blocks ALL posts and private messages from a person. It makes them invisible to you. It's like they aren't even there.

I can only speak toward my own experiences
. I think you are very tolerant but when someone egregiously crosses the line you handle it. You even deleted a post a menacing member (suspended) made that snidely implied I might be the illegitimate offspring of a celebrity.

I totally agree that it's important to have a good measure of tolerance. Since this menacing poster, I've never encountered anyone who was anywheres near as rude and inappropriate, and who acted in a way that implied they were above the rules. I've seen a few members who could be ornery if you engaged them the wrong way--but next to the person I dealt with they are all Mother Theresa. I think you do a great job and when a situation is really over the top it gets dealt with firmly. That's my experience.

Default Ignore list

Message boards can get really ugly- Sometimes people put things up that sound worse than they are- after all when we type, and read you can't tell how someone meant something-
Another issue is- sometimes people maintain a ruder attitude online, due to the fact they don't have to interact with the person.
Far easier to type an insult than say it to someones face don't you think.

If you are bothered by someone Troi, take Tj's advice- go to your personal settings- once you put the person bothering you on the ignore list-
they can not PM you, email you, matter of fact you won't see ANYTHING they post- they become literally invisible.

Unfortunately its very difficult to patrol every message board, and every post- but unless the person is literally threatening you, the easiest way to deal with it, is that ignore function.

If you need help to do it, I would be more than happy to help you- and write out what you need to do.

Sorry someone has been upsetting you, but sometimes in life the best thing to do is just ignore them.

The person HAS been on my ignore list even BEFORE Todd suggested it, but that was not the point I was trying to make.
