Default Gracie should be told Chuck's her father

There really seems to be no real good reason not to tell her. She's going to have to be told at some point. What good does delaying do? Every child should have the benefit of knowing who their parents are. Let her experiece the joy of knowing she has two parents who love her, now.

The secret of paternity has generated some laughs, particularly last episode. But it's hard to imagine it consistently generating laughs like Niles's secret affection for Daphne did on 'Frasier'.

Plus, their is a moral aspect to this situation. Gracie is at age where she would be wondering who her father is and would benefit from having him involved in her life. Chuck clearly has some flaws, but he hasn't shown anything that would make one believe he wouldn't be a loving father.

As far as the less than ideal way Gracie was conceived, this is 2007, not 1957 -- Gracie can handle it.

The few laughs POSSIBLY lost by revealing Chuck as the father would immediately be replaced by a multitude of situations and plots that could arise out of Chuck trying to be an involved, responsible father.

Hopefully, the last episode's tease of the secret getting out is a sign that the secret will be revealed shortly. If the show wants to take several episodes to work up to it and show Kelly and Chuck wrestle with how, when and if they should tell Gracie -- that's fine. That could be great viewing. But fairly soon Gracie needs to be told. There's no good reason not to.

From a moral standpoint, I agree, Gracie should know who her father is. However, from the show's standpoint, I think it is fun how they can take this. The "Gracie's Bully" episode was a perfect example of that.

For the good of the show, they should at least keep this gag running until the end of the season. That way, we could still get the same laughs out of it, plus have a good way to end the season (unless the season ends at 9 episodes).

Speaking morally, of course Gracie should know who her father is. I don't understand why Kelly has to be uptight as to not tell her. Gracie already probably thinks as Chuck as the closest father figure she has in her life, so why not just take the final plunge?

That's true.

I've been thinking maybe Kelly herself isn't ready to let Chuck be the father of her daughter - yet.

One way to pull this off would be for Gracie and Chuck to grow increasingly closer, and then at some tender moment, may be after Gracie has said, 'I wish I had father like you.' Chuck could reveal that he is her father.
Hammy, and possibly hack for sure, but something like that has the potential of being beautiful and tender.

That might be the way they reveal it. It would actual be a good way . . . maybe a bit predictable, which you just proved to us, but an easy way to do it. I personally can't wait for it to be revealed to Gracie. I just hope FOX doesn't cancel this show so we won't be able to. This has just so much potential to be a huge hit. I hope FOX can see that.

I expect Gracie to find out either during February sweeps or in the season
finale.

If this strike lasts longer, we might have to wait until next season to find out.

The season cliffhanger would be a good idea. For the life of me, I can't remember if Chuck and Kelly had a brief fling or a one-night stand? Was the audience told?

One thing that's sort of a sticking point with me is why Kelly didn't tell Chuck from the beginning. I heard her reasoning, that he wouldn't commit to anything, and he didn't return her calls. Still, you have to think a guy is a total creep to not acknowledge his own child, and she could have gotten hold of him. I'm just not clear on all that. You know how something just doesn't sit right in your mind? That's the deal with that with me, regarding Kelly not telling Chuck.

A good season cliffhanger would be for someone (Marsh, if they wanna be funny with it) to find out Chuck is the father of Gracie. If we could get a full 24 episode season (or at least something close to that) I'd love to see something like that happen.
