Post The Facts Of Life Reunion Sequel

Okay, this is my second fanfic. It is a sequel to The Facts of Life Reunion Movie. I will be posting it in parts because, as you know if you've read my other fanfic, I can be pretty long-winded, and I have not finished the whole thing. Anyway, let me know what you think of it so far!
Chapter 1
The Little Inn at Peekskill had been the location of several weddings over the years, but the one coming up was special. Blair Warner-Warner was doing her best to make everything perfect for the bride and groom, as well as the several guests who would be attending. After all, Natalie had first realized how special Harper was to her at this very Inn, and it meant a lot to Blair that the couple had chosen this spot to say, “I do.”

As Blair marched around giving orders to her staff, she thought about what a great time everyone would have at the wedding. The wedding was to take place on New Year’s Day, just six weeks after Natalie had accepted Harper’s marriage proposal. The couple had been so busy flying all over the world, covering important news stories, that Blair had volunteered to make all of the arrangements. At first, Natalie seemed reluctant to let Blair plan her special day, but in the end she realized she just did not have the time to do it. Natalie did not really want a fancy wedding, but Blair was determined that the only ceremony better than this one, would have been her own wedding ten years ago. Although nothing could beat the lavish affair Blair’s parents had thrown when she married Tad, Blair thought Natalie deserved the next best thing.

“Blair, when are you coming to bed?” Tad’s voice was eager coming from the next room. Blair had been so busy calling the florist and checking with the caterers that she had almost forgotten about her husband. The couple had been trying to get pregnant since Thanksgiving and therefore could not spend even one night apart. So far, they had not had any luck, but Blair was sure it would happen soon. “I’ll be there in a minute honey,” she answered. “I’m just making sure everything is ready for the wedding. We only have three days you know.” Tad laughed. “What I know is that if you don’t get in here soon, I’m going to fall asleep.” Blair began to giggle. She walked into the room, pulled back the covers, and slipped into bed next to her husband. “I love you,” she whispered as she kissed him.

Chapter2
It was late. The winter sky was black and there were no visible stars. As Dorothy Ramsey drove her rented U-haul truck past the “Welcome to Peekskill” sign, she looked at her daughter Tisha asleep in the seat next to her. “I love you baby,” she whispered. “I hope this move will be good for us.”

Dorothy had finished taping the final episode of her talk show in L.A. a week ago. Then she and Tisha had loaded all of their things into a rented truck, attached the car to the back of it, and hit the road. Dorothy knew it was the best thing she could do for herself and her child, but she was nervous. She was uprooting her family so she could follow her dream. Tisha had already experienced so much loss, and Dorothy hoped this would not be a difficult adjustment for her daughter. Tisha seemed pretty anxious to move though, and she was looking forward to starting school at Eastland. Dorothy hoped Tisha would make some good friends, special friends, like she had done when she went there.

Dorothy turned on Samson Avenue. That was where their new house was. It was a great house. It had three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a fenced in yard. After Thanksgiving, when Dorothy and Tisha had returned to LA, she had called several realtors looking for a place that would be perfect, but there was no luck. Every place was either too big or too small. Robert, her new business partner, had found this place and called to tell her about it. He sent her some pictures via e-mail. It was just what she was wanting and Tisha liked it too. So, Dorothy bought the house and prepared to move. As she pulled into the driveway, Dorothy thought about how much her life had changed in just a few short weeks. Here she was, back in Peekskill.

Chapter3
As the plane landed, Harper and Natalie looked into each other’s eyes. “I can’t believe we’re here,” she said. He put his arms around her and kissed her. “I can’t believe that in three days we will be husband and wife,” he flashed his sexy smile at his future wife. The couple got off the plane with the other passengers but they felt as though they were the only two people in the world.

They decided to take a cab to The Little Inn. They were both pretty anxious to get there and see what Blair had planned. Although Blair had called to ask what kinds of flowers they liked and what type of food they wanted served at the reception, Natalie knew that Blair would have outdone herself and she was hoping to have a small say in what her own wedding would be like.

By the time they arrived at the inn, it was past midnight. The only light was in the lobby. As they walked hand in hand up to the front door, Natalie turned to Harper. “Be prepared,” she said. They opened the door. The entire lobby was filled with wedding decorations. There were white chairs set up for the guests with pink silk ribbons tied to them. Even the ceiling was covered with decorations. “This is sooo not what I wanted,” Natalie sighed. “Why would she do this? I knew she would do this. I said ‘simple.’ I said ‘small.’ To Blair, this is a small and simple wedding!” Harper just laughed. “Well, you are the one who left her in charge.” Natalie playfully hit him on top of the head with her purse. Then they went to the front desk to check in.

Chapter4
Jo Polniaczek-Bonner was sitting at her kitchen table. In her hand, she held her invitation to Natalie’s wedding. She took a deep breath. “You have to do it Jo,” she said to herself. “You have to go. You can’t miss another get together. You just can’t.” She put her head in her hands and started to cry.

The next morning, Jamie found her mother still sitting at the kitchen table. “Are you okay Mom?” she asked. She had been worried about her mother for quite awhile. In September, without explanation, Jo had quit her job as a police officer. Then at Thanksgiving, she had refused to go to Peekskill and visit her friends. She had cancelled the airline reservations. Jamie and her dad Rick had taken the motorcycle and gone anyway, but not before Jo and Rick had a big fight. Jamie had heard bits and pieces of the argument. She heard her mother say, “You can’t take Jamie.” She heard her father say, “Jo, you need to get some help. We can’t live like this anymore.” Then she had left with her father. When they got to Peekskill, he told her to pretend like everything was okay. He told her to say her mother was working, even though she hadn’t had a job for two months. Jamie did what she was told, but she was scared. And now, seeing her mother like this, she was even more afraid. “Mom,” she repeated, “are you alright?” Jo looked up at her daughter. “Oh, yea Jamie,” she said, “I’m fine. But I’m afraid I have some bad news. We are not going to be able to go to Aunt Nat’s wedding.”

Chapter5
The morning sun was shining through the window. Blair rubbed her eyes and looked at her husband sleeping next to her. She loved him so much. She could not imagine not having him in her life. Tad opened his eyes. “Good morning beautiful,” he smiled at her and kissed her on the forehead. Blair grinned and twirled her hair with her fingers. “You know,” she said, “last night may have been the one.” “Oh, you think so huh,” Tad asked smiling. “I think we should keep trying, just to be sure.” They both laughed and slipped back under the covers.

Down stairs, Natalie and Harper were eating breakfast in the restaurant. “I just cannot believe her!” Natalie yelled. “I mean it is my wedding. Shouldn’t it be the way I want it to be?” Harper was eating his eggs and just staring at his fiancé. “Are you listening to me,” Natalie asked him. “I mean, it is your wedding too. Don’t you want to have a say in this?” Harper reached across the table and took her hand. “Babe,” he said, “I don’t care if we have a wedding with a million guests, or just a few. As long as you become my wife, nothing else matters.” Natalie smiled at him. “You’re right. I’m sorry. It’s just that Blair always does this stuff. I know she’s trying to help. It will be okay.”

Blair and Tad entered the dining room and spotted Natalie and Harper immediately. “So, may we join you?” Blair asked. Harper answered, “Of course.” Blair asked them what they thought of the decorations. “They are a bit elaborate,” Natalie answered. Then she looked at Harper, “but I guess they’ll be just fine.” “I knew you’d love it!” Blair said happily. Then the two couples ate breakfast together.

Chapter6
Dorothy and Tisha were both asleep on the living room floor. It had been so late when they arrived in Peekskill that they had not had time to unload the U-haul. Dorothy had wanted to go to a motel for the night, but Tisha wanted to spend the night in their new home. A knock on the door woke them up.

“Mom,” Tisha asked, “who could that be? We just moved here.” Dorothy walked to the door, and looked through the peek hole. “Robert?” she said. ‘What is he doing here?” She opened the door. “Hello there,” he said. “And how are you two lovely ladies this morning?” “We’re fine,” Dorothy answered, “but what are you doing here at 7:00 in the morning?”

Robert sat down on the floor with a box of donuts in his hands. “I thought you two might be hungry,” he replied. “Would you care to join me for breakfast?” “I will,” Tisha answered. “I’m starved.” Dorothy sat down with them. “You didn’t have to do this,” she said to Robert. “I know,” he said. “I wanted to do it. I can’t have my new partner and her only daughter wasting away now can I.” Dorothy laughed. “Well, thanks Robert.” She looked at Tisha. “Hurry up honey. We need to get over to the inn pretty soon to help Aunt Nat with the final wedding preparations.” “Oh yea,” Tisha said, “I almost forgot. It will be so much fun. When is Jamie getting here?” Dorothy smiled. “I am so glad you two have become friends. I think their plane will be landing sometime this evening. I can’t wait to see Jo again either. Funny, we all lived in LA for so long, but hardly ever saw each other.”

Chapter7
“Why can’t we go to the wedding?” Jamie asked her mother. “I really wanted to go. It was going to be a blast.” Jo knew how disappointed Jamie was. She really wanted to take her, but she just couldn’t. “Don’t you want to see Aunt Blair? She really missed you at Thanksgiving!” Jamie was almost crying. “Of course I want to see her, and Tootie and Natalie too,” Jo sighed. “Jamie, it’s just impossible. Your dad is gone on a concert tour, and I just don’t want to leave the house for that long. What if someone breaks in?”

Jamie did not believe her mother’s excuse for a minute. There were plenty of neighbors who could keep an eye on the house. She knew something was wrong. “It’s okay Mom,” she said. “I understand you don’t want to leave the house without someone to watch it.” Jamie walked up to her bedroom. She picked up the telephone and dialed her father’s cell phone. “Hello,” said the voice on the other end of the line. “Daddy,” Jamie cried. “Something is wrong with mom. She just told me we can’t go to Aunt Nat’s wedding and she gave me some lame excuse. You made me lie for her at Thanksgiving. I don’t want to lie anymore. I want to know the truth. I’m scared.” Rick listened to his daughter crying into the telephone. He knew he had to come home now. It would mean ditching the concert tour and losing all the money he was supposed to make. They needed the money, especially now that Jo had quit her job. “Don’t worry sweetie,” he said. “I’ll be home as soon as I can. I love you.”

Jo looked down at the wedding invitation again. How could she do this? Not show up for Natalie’s wedding. Break her daughter’s heart. She felt so guilty for what she was doing, but she couldn’t help it. She loved her friends. She loved her daughter. She almost talked herself into going, but something stopped her. Jo’s pulse was racing as she thought about flying to Peekskill. There was no way she could make herself go.

I'm glad you guys like it. Here is a little more!

Chapter8
Dorothy and Tisha waved good-bye to Robert as he drove away from their new house. “He is really nice,” Tisha said to her mother. “Yes he is,” Dorothy agreed. “Now, lets get over to the inn.” Dorothy unhooked her car from the U-haul. “When we get home,” she said, “We’ll need to unload this stuff.”

Dorothy and Tisha were both surprised when they arrived at the inn. The decorations were so extravagant that Dorothy could not believe Natalie had approved of them. Natalie walked down the stairs and spotted her friend. “Tootie,” she screamed. ‘You’re here.” The two women exchanged a hug. “So,” Dorothy asked, “what is all of this?” “What do you think?” Natalie answered. “Blair?” Dorothy asked. Then they both laughed. “Well it could be worse,” Natalie told her. “She is at least going to let me wear my wedding dress and walk down the aisle. For a second there I thought she was going to make herself my stunt double!” They were still laughing when the door opened. They turned to see who was there. “Mrs. Garrett,” they both yelled in unison.

Blair was coming downstairs when she heard her friends. “Oh good, Mrs. Garrett is here,” she said. “Now we’re just waiting on Jo.” Mrs. Garrett walked into the inn. “Hello girls,” she said and gave each of them a hug. “I have a surprise for you.” “Really,” asked Natalie. “What is it?” Mrs. Garrett went to the door and motioned for someone to come in. A tall young man with reddish-brown hair appeared in the doorway. “Andy!” all three of them screamed. They ran up to him and gave him a hug. “It is so great to see you,” Natalie said. “Yea, what have you been up to?” Dorothy asked. “It’s great to see you guys too,” Andy said. “I’ve missed you all a lot. After my mom passed away last year, I just really haven’t been in contact with anyone.” “I was so sorry to hear about Beverly Ann,” Blair said. “ But I am glad you’re here.” Andy smiled, “So am I!”

Chapter9
Rick Bonner was sitting in his hotel room trying to decide what to do. He had just told his daughter he would come home, but he didn’t know how he was going to do so. He had made a commitment to this concert and they needed the money. He loved Jo so much, but he didn’t know why she had to be like this. It scared him. He felt like he was losing her. She wasn’t the same person anymore.

Rick picked up the telephone and dialed. “Hello, Little Inn,” a voice answered. “Is this Raymond?” Rick asked. “No, I’m sorry.” The man replied. “Raymond quit a few weeks ago. Mrs. Warner-Warner was more than he could handle.” As upset as he was, Rick had to smile at that. “Well, could I speak to Mrs. Warner-Warner?” he asked. “Of course,” the desk clerk replied. “May I tell her who is calling?” Rick answered him, “This is Rick Bonner.”

“Hello, Rick” Blair said into the telephone. “It’s too bad you can’t be here, but I guess you have to work. Did you call for Jo? They are not here yet. Their plane lands tonight.” Rick didn’t really know how to tell her. “Blair,” he said, “Jo and Jamie will not be at the wedding..” Blair was shocked. “Why? Is something wrong?” Rick was silent for a moment. “Yes Blair,” he answered. “Something is very wrong.”

Here is a little more...

Chapter10
“Rick you’re scaring me!” Blair spoke softly into the phone. “What is wrong with Jo?” Rick felt almost as if he was betraying his wife, but he knew he had to do it. “Blair,” he said, “it’s complicated.” Blair was getting angry. She was scared and Rick was holding the truth from her. “What do you mean ‘complicated?’ Is she sick or something?” she asked.

“Not physically,” he answered. “It’s an emotional problem.” Rick began telling her the whole story. “Back in September, shortly after the terrorist attacks, Jo began to change. You know, she became a cop because she wanted to make a difference. I don’t know why she wanted to quit her social work, and to be honest, we fought quite a bit about her working at such a dangerous job, but you know Jo. She never loses a fight.” He paused a moment. “Well, anyway she comes to me one night and says ‘Rick you are right. My job is too dangerous. I’m quitting.’ I was floored. I mean she loved that job and now she’s just willing to quit. I tried to talk to her about it, but she really didn’t want to and I was actually glad she wanted to quit, so I dropped it.”

Blair was confused. “You mean she quit her job way back in September?” she asked. “I thought she had to work on Thanksgiving. That’s why she wasn’t here.”

“I lied to you, Blair.” Rick responded. “I’m sorry. I was really just covering for her.”

“Why didn’t she come?” Blair asked.

“I’m getting to that. You see, she quit her job. No one knew why, and I didn’t really want to get into it. But then, I would come home and find her just staring at the TV, crying at the latest news coverage of the attacks. She just wouldn’t turn away and she cried and cried over ‘all of those innocent people’ and how ‘no one could help them.’ It was like she felt guilty or something. I begged her to see somebody about the way she was feeling. All over the country people were having the same emotional breakdowns, but she wouldn’t go. She is just so independent, and she thought it would go away. It didn’t.” Rick stopped, took a breath, and continued.

“ Then when it was time for Thanksgiving, I found out she had cancelled our plane tickets without telling me. She said she was too scared to go. She couldn’t get on the plane and she didn’t want Jamie or me on a plane either. I tried everything, but she just cried. She was so emotionally drained by that point. She wasn’t thinking straight. I got angry. We had a fight. I left with Jamie and came to Peekskill on my own. When I got back, she told me she was sorry. She cried for an hour about how she was letting everybody down. She promised me she would go to the wedding, but Jamie just called and said that Jo told her they can’t come.”

“She’s scared to get on the plane?” Blair replied.

“I guess so,” Rick answered. “Blair, I don’t know what to do. She’s scared of everything. She is not the woman I married. I miss the Jo I fell in love with, and Jamie misses her mother.”

“It will be okay, Rick.” Blair’s voice was shaky as she spoke. “I’ll talk to Natalie and Dorothy. We’re going to figure this out. We’re going to help Jo.” She hung up the phone.

Thanks for the replies. Here is a little more. Let me know what you think of it so far. I see this thing getting pretty long!

Chapter11
Blair walked into the dining room where everyone had gathered for coffee. Mrs. Garrett was telling everyone about her latest adventure. They were all glued to the conversation and laughing. Blair hated to spoil their fun, but she had to tell them about Jo. She walked up to the table. “Hey everybody,” she said. ‘We need to talk.”

Natalie could tell by Blair’s expression that something was really wrong. “What’s the matter?” she asked.

“Well,” Blair answered. “Rick just called me. Jo and Jamie are not coming to the wedding.”

“Oh man!” Andy was truly disappointed. “I haven’t seen her in so long.”

“I can’t believe it,” Dorothy said. “How could she do that to Natalie. We’re all supposed to be best friends. Don’t tell me she has to work again. I mean Thanksgiving was one thing, but this is a wedding. You don’t just miss a wedding!”

“Now wait a minute,” Blair tried to continue.

“No, don’t go and defend her,” Natalie said. “She can be so selfish. I was counting on her to be one of my bride’s maids. I was at her wedding. She was at everyone else’s weddings. Why can’t she come to mine? There is no excuse.”

“Natalie,” Mrs. Garrett jumped in. “Calm down. Maybe Jo has a good reason.”

“She does,” Blair looked down at the floor. “She’s sick.” She looked up at her friends, tears running down her face. The room was silent as minds raced thinking about what could be wrong with Jo. Finally someone spoke up.

“What’s wrong with Aunt Jo?” Tisha asked. Her face showed how scared she was. “Is she going to die…like Daddy?” Tisha laid her head on her mother’s shoulder and began to sob.

Chapter12
Blair looked at Tisha. She hadn’t thought that perhaps she should not have brought this up in front of her. “She’s not going to die, Tisha,” Blair answered. “I promise you that.” Tisha did not really seem satisfied with that answer, nor did anyone else at the table.

“Tisha baby,” Dorothy spoke softly, “Why don’t you go find something to do? We’ll talk about this more later.”

“I want to know what’s going on now!” Tisha said.

Dorothy gave Blair a stern look. “Alright Tish, I suppose you can stay. You’ve heard enough already.”

Natalie was feeling guilty for the things she had said about Jo. “Well, what is wrong with her?” she asked.

“Rick said she is having an emotional breakdown.” Blair could not contain her emotions and started to cry harder. “He says she’s not the same person anymore.”

“I don’t believe it…” Natalie’s voice trailed off. “How could something like this happen to Jo? She is the most independent and stable person I know.”

“He said it all stemmed from the terrorist attacks in September. She quit her job. She refused to come for Thanksgiving because she was scared to fly. He says she is afraid of anything and everything now.” Blair could not understand how this could happen to Jo of all people.

“Jo is not like that,” Mrs. Garrett spoke up. “How could this have happened?”

“Well, I think I understand part of it,” Dorothy spoke up. “A few weeks ago we did a show about this. Those attacks were meant to change our way of life, make us afraid to live. It affected everybody, but most people have been able to go on and face their fears. Some people have not been able to.” Dorothy looked at all of her friends. “The psychiatrist on the show said that it was particularly hard for people who were used to being in control. People who felt almost invincible. He said that these people were being forced to face their own mortality and some of them just could not face it. We had a man on the show that had not left his house since September 11. We had to broadcast from his house via satellite.”

“Oh my,” Mrs. Garrett could not believe her ears. “At least Jo hasn’t gone that far, has she?’

“Not yet,” Blair answered, “But Rick is really worried. She wouldn’t get any help when this first started and now I think she may be to scared to get help.”

“Poor Jo,” Andy replied. “I know part of what she’s going through. When my mom died, I felt like my life was over. I saw a therapist who helped me get back on my feet. But it was hard to make that first move.”

“Well we have to find a way to help her.” Blair looked at Natalie and Harper. “I’m sorry guys, but I’m not going to be here for the wedding. I am going to L.A. I have to help Jo. I have to be there for her. I hope you understand.”

Chapter13
“Of course we understand, Blair,” Natalie answered. “But I think maybe we should just postpone the wedding. Jo needs all of us right now.”

“You can’t postpone the wedding,” Blair sounded surprised. “I went to all of this trouble and I don’t know if we could get the same caterer at a later date.”
“Blair, it’s okay.” Natalie answered. “Maybe you should call and cancel everything. Harper and I really are not into all of this fancy stuff. It doesn’t even seem like our wedding anymore.”

Blair was shocked. She thought Natalie loved the wedding preparations. “You mean you don’t like what I’ve planned?”

Natalie did not want to hurt Blair’s feelings. “It’s just not us. You understand, don’t you?”

“I guess,” Blair answered. “Well, if we are all going to L.A., I guess I better make some airline reservations.”

“You know,” Mrs. Garrett replied, “I think someone should stay here. You know to cancel plans and call the guests. Andy and I could do it.”

“Sure we could,” Andy said. “Besides, it has been awhile since I’ve been in Peekskill. Maybe I’ll look up some old friends.”

“Would you mind keeping an eye on Tisha?” Dorothy asked.

“Of course not,” Mrs. Garrett answered. “I’d love to watch her.”

“No!” Tisha yelled at her mother. “I’m going. If something is wrong with Aunt Jo, then Jamie needs a friend too. If you’re going to be there for your friend, I am going to be there for mine!”

Dorothy looked at her daughter and suddenly realized how grown up her baby was becoming. “Okay Tisha,” she smiled. “You can come too.”

Here is some more. I'm trying to post as soon as I finish writing. Maybe I'll get finished with the whole thing today. I have had four days off of work because of Thanksgiving and to be honest I've been pretty bored. That is why I started writing this in the first place. Tomorrow is my final day off, so I promise if it is not done today, it will be tomorrow! Enjoy!

Chapter14
Blair was upstairs calling the airline. She had to get enough tickets for everyone and money was no object. She spoke to several different people, but everyone said the same thing. “We’re sorry, but we’re booked. It is just to close to New Year’s Day and many people are traveling.”

She did not know what to do. They could rent a car and drive to L.A., but that would take a few days, and Blair wanted to be there now. Just then, there was a knock at the door. “Come in” Blair sighed.

Natalie appeared in the doorway. “Any luck?” she asked.

“None,” Blair answered. “What are we going to do now?”

“Well,” Natalie smiled. “Harper and I thought maybe he could fly us there.”

Blair had not even thought of that. “That is a terrific idea!” she shouted. “Let’s get ready.”

“Tootie and Tisha went back to their new house to get some things and Harper and I are already packed.” Natalie said. “He thinks we can leave by 2:00.”

“Sounds great,” Blair answered. “And Nat, I’m sorry I ruined your wedding. You know me, I just can’t back off.”

“It’s fine Blair,” Natalie smiled. “Harper and I were just talking about maybe going to LasVegas. We’ll still have our wedding.”

Blair watched as Natalie left the room. She hoped this trip would be worth the effort. She needed Jo to be okay. She needed her best friend.

Chapter15
Dorothy was pulling into her driveway when her cell phone began to ring. “Hello,” she answered. There was no response on the other end of the line. “Hello…” she said again. “Tootie,” Jo’s voice was soft, but came through clearly.

“Jo?” Dorothy asked.

“Yea, it’s me.” Jo answered. Then she paused for a moment. “I just wanted to call and let you all know that Jamie and I can’t make it to the wedding. I found your cell number, so I just thought I would call you instead of calling the inn and having them try to hunt you guys down. I know you must be pretty busy with the wedding preparations.”

“Jo,” Dorothy paused for a moment, unsure of what she should say. “Nat and Harper are postponing the wedding. You are not missing anything. Are you sure you’re okay though? You sound like something is bothering you.” Dorothy hoped that Jo would open up to her.

“I’m fine,” Jo tried to sound happy. “I think I’ve just got the flu or something. Well, let me know when the wedding is going to be. We’ll be there.” Jo hung up the phone.

Dorothy did not know what to think. Should she have told Jo that they knew the truth? Should she have told her they were flying to L.A.? She was so confused by all of this. Dorothy and Tisha got out of the car. They walked to the U-haul to take out some things for the trip. When Dorothy opened the door, she gasped.

“MOM!” Tisha screamed. “Where is our stuff?”

The U-haul was empty. “Someone must have stolen our things.” Dorothy slammed her hand down on the truck. “This is just great!” she yelled. “I move from L.A. to Peekskill just to get robbed and lose everything.” Just then the door to the house opened. Dorothy looked up to see Robert coming out of the house.
“What is all the commotion about?” he asked.

“We’ve been robbed, that’s what!” Dorothy answered sharply. “And what are you doing here anyway?”

Robert smiled at Dorothy. “Calm down,” he said. “You haven’t been robbed. I just thought you could use some help so I unloaded the moving truck. Your neighbors have been helping me. They are all very nice people. We’ve been working all morning.”

“Where did you get a key to my house?” Dorothy asked. She knew Robert was trying to be helpful, but she felt he had violated her privacy.

“You left the door unlocked,” he said. “I’m sorry. I was just trying to help.”

Dorothy calmed down. “It’s okay. I’m sorry. Thank you for the help. It’s just that Tisha and I have to get ready to fly back to L.A. Everyone is going.” Dorothy began to cry. “Our friend, Jo. She is having a lot of problems right now. We need to be there for her. Nat and Harper have postponed the wedding. I’m just under so much stress right now.”

Robert put his arms around Dorothy to console her. She started to pull away, but it felt nice to have someone comfort her. She needed a shoulder to cry on.
