Default Does anyone else remember this music video?

Back in the 80's the music group Manhatten Transfer had a song and a video that showed on VH-1 regularly. The video consisted of the group dressed as Ricky, Lucy, Ethel and Fred. The video was a tribute I guess to I Love Lucy. We see them singing and they are in the Ricardos' apartment. I tried in vain to find any information for this music video on the net but no luck. I know I am not crazy, I seen this video many, many times. Anyone know what I am talking abt?

The name of the song was Blee Blop Blues but I couldn't find the video online anywhere.

Hey, Irene!

If it's the same one I'm thinking about, yes, I do remember it, where nobody else does...until now. LOL I thought I dreamed the whole thing up, actually. IF it's the same one you are referring to, this is what I remember. It start out with "Lucy" sitting on the couch reading a magazine. Then, "Lucy" hears the faucet dripping, gets up and goes to the window that separated the living room from the kitchen. She reaches in the window and turns it off. I don't remember what happened immediately after that, but at one pint in the video, "Fred" and "Ethel" jump out of the closet dressed as firemen. "Ethel" is holding an ax. Then, they are sitting on the couch and when it goes to the instrumental of the song, and the brass starts to blow, "Lucy" gets startled. I think the band was actually playing in the apartment (somewhere near the desk.) Then, towards the end of the video, somebody opened up the kitchen window by the desk and we see "Lucy's" head stuck in the pipes, while she is singing and crying. That's all I remember. I've tried to find it, too, with no such Luck.

I have often wondered if Lucy had heard of the Weird Al "Ricky" song and/or video, and if she did, what she thought of it. I'm so glad it was brought up in an interview and that she liked it. It was a very tasteful homage to I Love Lucy.

My cousin, brother and I used to put on little shows in my aunts living room in front of the family, when we were growing up, and this is the one of the songs/videos we used to perform. I remember my little brother was like three years old at the time and he played the part of Little Ricky. He said in the chair with a set of little bongo drums, made out of two coffee cans that were held together with rubber bands. LOL I remember the part in the song when Lucy says, "You're always at the club, you never let me go. I'm beggin' and I'm pleadin', but you always tell me no. Oh, please, honey, please. Let me be in your show Ricky. Waaahhh!" My cousin played the Lucy part and did that to me. Then the part when Ricky says, "You always burn the roast, and you drop the dishes, too." My cousin took a stack of paper plates and flung them across the room like a Frisbee.

What a great story!!!!!! How fun that must have been!

I read your post above and for the life of me I cannot remember how that video went. For some reason it came to me the other night and I remember seeing the video on VH-1 and how uncanny they played the parts of the fab four. I only liked to watch the video simply because of the ILL tribute, nothing else. But it has been over 20 years since I have seen that video that I can't remember the details.

I had BOTH those videos, the Weird Al one i LOVED, but it was very cheaply done, i wondered why it was not on his recent dvd compilation that was released a while back, guess it was too primitive in LOOK. The Manhattan Transfer one was very well done and it's a great song also, i am still waiting for a friend to finish transferring some of my Lucy things, it's on an old vhs of mine at his house, hope to get it back someday. Great that she had these two great videos made about the show. Watched a Family Guy rerun last night that showed a Chocolate factory clip on their tv of Lucy with a great broadway song also mentionning Lucy from Little Shop Of Horrors, about watching Lucy before bed, so two tributes in one there, LOL!
