Default Are the earlier episodes of this show better?

I started enjoying this show last year when it started on The CW - and was wondering, how are the earlier seasons in comparison to the present and last season? Those are the only seasons I've seen, and was wondering if I should start with the earlier DVDs. How are the earlier episodes in comparison to the more recent ones? Better, worse, same?

Thanks!

The show has gotten better and better with age. The first two seasons were a little light, the stories were kind of weak (I wasn't a fan of all those "monster of the week" plots), and the character development wasn't as great as it is now. The show took somewhat of a dark turn during the third season. That's when things really started getting interesting. It's also when the show started using more and more ongoing plots, rather than wrapping everything up within one episode. The fourth season was the begginning of College. Sometimes shows aren't that good when the kids go to off to College, but Smallville's transition was a good one. It kept things fresh. The fifth and sixth seasons were GREAT. Those two years are the highlights of Smallville, IMO. This year (season seven) has been really good too.

Since your a fan of the show now, it is worth it to see all the past episodes. It's fun seeing how young the kids were. The high school and The Talon sets were great. Clarke's relationship with his parents has always been one of the best things about the show. And seeing Clarke grow up and "discover" himself is what the show is all about.

So, no, the earlier episodes aren't better, but certainly are worth watching.

I have to agree with Buffyboy: the show has gotten better with age, but the
early episodes are certainly worth a look, too. I also enjoy how the main
characters have grown and evolved over the years, esp. the transition of
Lex Luthor from Clark Kent's best friend to his arch enemy. Great character
studies. The quality was always there and still is. I'm glad that it hasn't
gotten stale or repetitious, not an easy feat after six seasons.

Actually last night's episode really sucked.I couldn't wait for it to end.Clark's uncle wants to kill everyone,Kara is missing and I think Chloe said that Lois is slut.I wish that Lois & Clark would get together.I find them more compatable than him & Lana now.Plus i think there's a part of Clark that likes Lois because of what happened in the first episode of the season because didn't Bizarro have the same emotions as Clark?
