Question When Was Your First "70s Show" Experience?

I remember seeing promos for the show during the Summer/Fall of 1998. I was a kid at the time, so seeing these teenagers having a blast grabbed my attention immediately. Being on the FOX network also brought me to the show - since FOX and The WB were really the only channels I watched back then.

It turned out to be a funny, and different kind of sitcom then I was used to. All In The Family and Married...With Children were really the only non-traditional family sitcoms I watched at the time. It all seemed fresh and new. The colors were great, the music was new (to me), the characters were hilarious, and the stories were good. I watched the show for 2 seasons, but got lost along the way. I think it had someting to do with FOX always switching the time-slots and it getting in the way of all my other shows. I watched a few episodes during the later years, but stopped again, because I felt like I missed so much so "What's the point?"

I recently started watching the show from the beginning, and though I remember some of the episodes, it's basically all new to me. It's even more fun now, since I actually understand all those sex jokes! More importantly, I relate a little to the characters, even though the show is set years and years ago.

So anyway, when and why did you first have your "70s Show" experience?

I also saw the previews of the show before it ever was on. I was an instant fan. Loved that show so much.

I'm strange. I can only be a fan of a current show if I'm taping it. Or at least that's how I was back in 1998 when "That '70s Show" debuted. I missed the pilot when it aired and tuned in a couple times to see what kind of show it was. I remember thinking it was good and that Topher Grace's performance as Eric seemed like a teenage version of Dave Nelson (played by Dave Foley) on my favorite show, "NewsRadio." But because I wasn't taping it, I wasn't going to watch it.

I had decided I'd wait until it came to syndication, after it's fourth season and then I would tape the show and be a fan of it. However, I resented it's popularity (I don't know why, lol) and when it came to syndication I decided not to watch it. I also didn't like the idea of them slowing down time, and that information also turned me off of the show.

When shows started coming to DVD, I had decided to collect every single sitcom, even the ones I didn't like. I bought the first season of "That '70s Show" but didn't watch it. In fact, I didn't watch it until after I heard that they were going on for an 8th season sans Eric and Kelso. That may seem like a weird time, I know. But that's when I decided to finally watch the show. I watched the whole first season in about a week. I liked it and then as the episodes went on, I loved it. Once the second season came to DVD, I watched that in just two days. I felt like such a fool for not getting into the show sooner. I taped the 8th season as it aired on FOX and continued buying the DVDs of the early years.

Now I'm up to season seven on DVD, with just one more season to go. It's become one of my top ten favorite sitcoms.

I also remember promos for the show before it aired in August of 1998 (I was 16 at the time, I believe). I thought it looked interesting, so my friend and I sat on her couch and gave it a whirl the night it debuted. We were cracking up so hard....I knew right then that it would be a show I'd want to watch!

I only caught a few episodes on the original run.
I was too busy to watch TV regulary.
I had heard of the show and liked the premise.
I knew that it was being put on DVD, but for some reason never got around to watching it. I saw the first two seasons at a local library.
I checked out Season one, but kept taking it out without getting around to watching it.
Finally when the had the first 4 seasons on dvd, I checked out the 1st season one more time. This time I made a point to watch the first disc.
I immediatly loved the show.
I finished the first season in a few days.
When I took it back to the library I exchanged it for season 2.
By the time I had finished season 4, my wife was hooked too.
I had heard about the upcomming release of season 5.
I went out and bought the first 4 seasons.
I get them the day they come out on dvd now.

I don't remember if I saw any promos for the show or not, but I do remember watching the pilot when it first aired and I loved it. After that I watched it every week for the first 5 - 5 1/2 seasons, never missed an episode.

I think I already watched it when it was first shown over here in Sweden. I think that was back in 2000 or 2001.

I never watched it during its run, but I started to watch it at around 1am on Trouble (A channel over here in the UK), on Friday nights last year.
