Say your total is $150.00. She didn't know that you can split the 150 in half and put $75 on one Card and $75 on another card. She said never heard of that before in her life.

has anyone on this board made a payment this way? I just did it in Radio Shack

I've never done it for myself, but when I was a cashier I did it for other people.

Maybe she didn't know that she could have done it that way. You should have asked to speak with a manager or another cashier who might have helped.

When I was a cashier many moons ago, I had a customer who asked if he could put $50 on one card and the remainder on another card because he knew he was already maxing out the one card. I asked the manager and he told me "yes you can do that." That is how I found out. That was back in 1989.

Ditto. At Wal-Mart, I have also had customers pay a portion in cash and the
rest by credit card.

It is normal for a cashier to ask for I.D. when anyone is using a credit card to pay. Not all of them do it, but some stores instruct their employees to check I.D. to cut down on credit card fraudulent purchases.
