Jo was just your average tomboy girl with a pony tail, football jerseys and not afraid to slug the glamourpusses if they got under her skin. She went to the prestiegeous Eastland School for Girls in Peekskill NY on a scholarship and had a bad reputation. (Parking your motercycle into the housemother's daisies will do that to your rep.) One day when between classes a strange man with a bad suit and sunglasses stopped her. "Jo-ann Polneczek I presume?" He said.

"Who Wants to know?" Jo responded.

"Rick Edwards, Peekskill Police Department. I would like to have a word with you."

"If this is about Blair's missing tooth I was just trying to help her make some extra money from the tooth fairy because daddy cut her off okay?"

"Just come with me," he stated rather firmly and took her to an empty classroom.

"Joanna Marie..."

"It's JO pal. Do you want me to spell it out on your face?"

"Sorry JO, I am here because for the last 2 weeks since you arrived at Eastland the PPD has been watching you. Your antics and subsequent probation as well as your street smarts are exactly what we are looking for. We have reason to believe that there is some serious corruption within Eastland school with a lot of funds unaccounted for and the odd student 'disappearing'. We haven't been able to infiltrate the school to investigate this any further then we have."

"So what's this got to do with me?"

"You are, how do I put it? A tomboy type with a bad reputation."

"Thanks for the compliment but I have a boyfriend already." Jo said rather sarcastically.

"The bottom line is that nobody would suspect someone like you would be an undercover cop investigating their criminal activity. You are also a tough young lady who could get information out of students who know something in a manner our agents in the field cannot. We would like you to work undercover in a top secret operation and bring these dirtbags down."

"Sorry pal, I don't work for the fuzz."

"I noticed that you are at Eastland on a scholarship..."

"If you do anything to ruin all the hard work I put in to be here I'll..."

"Calm down Jo. What I am saying is that the Peekskill PD is willing to pay for your college tuition to the school of your choice when you graduate if you play ball."

"Do I get a badge?"

"Yes"

"Do I get one of those cool nightsticks that I can smack the bad guys around with?"

"I suppose."

"Do I get a gun?"

"NO!"

"I had to ask!"

After this Jo went back to class and on the weekend was given her badge and police credentials to show to other cops to avoid getting busted. She really liked this perk of the job. She did get her nightstick but told to hide it at all costs or it would blow her cover. Nobody suspected a thing.

However, one night in her room Natalie noticed a shiny piece of wood under Jo's mattress.

"What's that Jo?" She asked while wearing a cap with yellow lightning bolts on it.

"A nightstick" Jo proclaimed.

"Where did you get that?"

"I GOT A NIGHTSTICK OKAY?" Jo said and sent Nat back to her side of the room.

Jo then went to sleep. She would need it because she was going to have a very busy few weeks.

Thanks for the feedback! Did you notice the name of the cop? Rick Edwards (Eddie her sailor boyfriend from season 2 and of cource Rick her husband!)

I have some cool stories of Jo as an undercover cop but so you know which post is the right one I will let you know that I am officially changing the title to Eastland Undercover. I like the sound of it better. There will be a lot of clever Season 2 references and let me know if and when you can spot them!
