This is one of 2 episodes (that I can recall) in which I find something objectionable. If children watching the show think one can drink a concoction with 10 tranquilizers and just get sleepy, it could possibly be dangerous, especially if they see their "heroes" on GI doing this. Other than that....
I wonder what all those pill bottles in Thirston's case say (I've tried to read them sometimes!) It's kind of scary when he discards his painkillers, being on a deserted island and all with no CVS around; one would think they'd be precious. Is Gilligan giving the Professor a strange look (kind of negative) when he sees him stretching? Maryann is usually a good cook; it's surprising that her gravy tastes horrible, isn't it? Gilligan's suggestion that Ginger stand at the top of the human tower because she's wearing high heels makes no sense, right? The total height of the tower would still be the same. I love the joke about Gilligan's foot being on fire. Come on, everyone, tell us what you think about this episode. There would be no GI without these individual episodes. Watch/remember it and let us know!!! |

I need to review this one... but anyway... glad to see we've moved on!!
Uh... yeah. I never understood why the castaways were so secretive about putting sleeping pills in Skipper's drink! All I can say is that it was a good thing Skipper was a big guy!! |

I find this one of the funniest episodes for slapstick. Gilligan's foot in the fire, banging into the tree, flying into the lagoon - great stuff. Also, note the interesting pairing here as the Professor and Gilligan work as partners to try to help the Skipper. The background on the Skipper's navy career is interesting here. We actually see what he would have acted like in wartime situations. It seems that even twenty years ago, he was some kind of officer, as in the hypnotism sequence he seems to be taking the roll. Chief Petty Officer, perhaps? |
