No Remake!!!! - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

This is a thread that I also did on the IMDB Bewitched board and people more or less seemed to agree in their opinions so I thought I'd try it here too

As Bewitched got older repeated stories became more frequent. My question is: Are there any Dick York episodes that you feel were purely HIS episodes and would have been disasterous as DS remakes (this can also include episodes that WERE remade which you think shouldn't have been)?

For my two cents I think "A is for Aardvark" and "Mirror, Mirror on the Wall" are pure York gold and could never have been remade successfully. As for episodes that were remade I think "Samantha's Better Halves" is awful. I couldn't even tell the difference between Darrin's two sides!!

That's an easy question - NONE of them should've been remade. The writers were recycling plots all over the place, and obviously DY wasn't able to keep the role due to his health problems. I wish they'd ended the show after Season 5. I have nothing against DS, but most of the episodes I've seen from seasons 6-8 I just didn't like. It just wasn't the same show anymore.

I feel that all the episodes in seasons 1-5 were DY's and should have not been remade. I would have hired new writers.

Actually comedyfreak I think that's a good point. Maybe there wouldn't have been so much opposition to Sargent if the role had been better adapted/written for him.

This is why I'm not going to bother getting Seasons 6-8--at least for a long time.

Same here. I'm done - I've bought all the Bewitched I want. I am not a fan of the Sargent era.
