TV Trivia
Producer William Dozier considered dozens of candidates for the role of the
dramatic voiceover narrator for BATMAN. He needed someone who could deliver just the right tone of mock seriousness while asking such burning questions as: "Is this the end for the Dynamic Duo?" Eventually William Dozier decided the man best suited for the job was William Dozier. On ABC's ROCKY & HIS FRIENDS, the first story focused on a secret rocket formula and went on for months. Bill Scott, the voice of Bullwinkle, explained that there was a very good reason for the meandering nature of the tale-- they really didn't know how long the new series was going to be. So they just kept on going with the plot. Throughout the entire run of the series COLUMBO, Peter Falk wore the same battered trench coat, thus earning the distinction of being the hit series with the least expensive wardrobe for its star. William Katt (star of THE GREATEST AMERICAN HERO) was the son of PERRY MASON's Barbara Hale and KIT CARSON's Bill Williams. Like THE COSBY SHOW, Bill Cosby's real-life family also consists of four daughters and a son. The idea of involving an alien in HAPPY DAYS (in what would turn out to be the pilot for MORK & MINDY) came from producer Garry Marshall, who said that one of his children had asked if there could be a space invader story. for that last one; it was Garry Marshalls son who asked his father if he'd put an alien in an episode of "HAPPY DAYS", since he (the son) liked the movie "STAR WARS".
Jack Webb used to keep the budget down on "DRAGNET" by having Joe Friday, Bill Gannon, and Fridays partner on the 50s version-I forget his name-wear the same clothes all the time, and only wear something else VERY, VERY rarely. |

Romero (Burton Yarborough), who had been his partner on the radio version. The second was Ed Jacobs (Barney Phillips). But the most familiar (and the one who played his sidekick for six seasons) was Frank Smith (Ben Alexander). |
