Default Why do YOU like Three's Company?

This must have been asked many times already, but, c'mon, 94 pages of threads!... Besides, time passes.

So why do we watch the show? And (I'm assuming a lot here) how did we get hooked on it? Is it the innuendo, the bits of flesh, the pratfalls? Or is it something else? The actors, the characters, the plots? ...Nostalgia, boredom, relaxation, ... life?

I watched it in the original run and thought it was funny and charming, but really got hooked on it only once the DVD's came out. And I'd just like to say, for now, that Three's Company is way, way, way deeper than it's usually made out to be. Besides being the funniest thing they've ever put on the tube -- on more than one continent...

What got me hooked on the show was the characters constanly jumping to conclusions and how much we do that in real life. Hopefully not as bad as the characters on this show.

Another reason was that it is a funny show. I always liked it when I was younger, but it wasn't my favorite show. After the Three's Company movie came out, I started to watch the show again. I was really surprised on how much I got hooked on it. I always loved comedy, but I never liked silly shows. But I really like this show.

I also liked how the characters jumped to conclusions their expressions and the physical comedy. I also liked the bickering between the Ropers.

I liked the chemistry between the characters. The physical comedy was also great and I've always been a fan of John Ritter.

The main reason I like the show - FRIENDSHIP! Plus all the laughs and misunderstandings that come with friendship.

Lucille Ball said it best....it just made us laugh and made us forget our troubles and that's why we loved it. After a trying day at school it always cheered me up to spend time with the characters from this show. It always made me feel good and as Monika said it showed us what friendship was all about.

Well, I think I was around 3 months old or so durin' the first run. I have watched Three's Company since I was a child and people that know me know it's always been my favorite show.

When I was young, I definitely did not get a lot of the innuendo. There were a lot of things I did not get. I probably did not get the Roper's relationship either (Not sure I get it now. LOL). The number one thing that drew me to the show was John Ritter's physical comedy. Even when I was young I had a great appreciation for it. It's not somethin' that can be taught. You don't just interview actors and tell them to do these things. John Ritter ad-libs a lot throughout the show. I'm tellin' you, you just can't teach that.

As I got older and saw it many, many, more times, I would pick up on a lot of new things and in some ways it was like watchin' it for the first time. Of course when I realized the innuendo, that was hilarious, too. I can tell it was a very risque show for the times.

A couple years ago I got Tivo and Three's Company would come on and I'd record 'em and watch 'em all again. I don't know how many times I've been through them. For some reason I have problems with the end, but that's a different story.

I like watchin' the relationship between the roommates, and how they interact with the Ropers, Furley, Larry, Launa, etc and between Jack and his dates. I don't think there's a show anythin' like Three's Company, so you get to see a lot of things you don't see anywhere else.

This may sound weird, but I also loved/love watchin' the struggles that go on. You've got these young roommates and they are always strugglin' to make it. They are doin' everythin' they can to pay the rent and it's always interestin' to see that and how it gets resolved. Maybe I like that, 'cause it's somethin' that a lot of people could identify with or somethin'.

As the show goes on there are new things too, like the new roommates, Angelino, Jacks' Bistro, etc. Those are good, too.

I remember when I was young, Three's Company would come on around 6:00pm and my older cousin who lived with us always wanted to watch Welcome Back Kotter at the same time Three's Company was on. That used to piss me off so bad. To this day, I don't think I've ever seen a whole episode of Welcome Back Kotter.

The storyline situations, the humor, jack's accidents (every character had a trait that made them funny) and the chemistry between them.

I didn't want to say too much when I asked the question...

I got totally hooked on TC because it's bloody true to life, or at least what I've lived of it, the actors fit together like three or five or six peas in a pod, every so often there's a throwaway line which is just profound... and the characters are disarmingly good, imperfect, people.

The following is too extreme, I know, but... Actually it is the only TV show I can watch. So many think it's such awful television. Probably it is. But does that say more about the show or about TV as a whole?

It was just funny. How can you not laugh at all the stupid misunderstandings, the Ropers' constant sexual innuendos, Larry, Furley, and all the weird situations the roommates always found themselves in? It's just great comedy.

For me it was just how theatrical it was. You cannot get much better than the physical comedy of John in TC. It was just so great and they also have to be some of the funniest characters ever created. It gave me a nice escape from a crappy or stressful day at school. It did the same for my mom as she was growing up!!!
