I agree with Solomon about Conan, but NBC felt they had to do it to keep him from jumping to another network... now the might be regretting it.

As for SportsCenter, they only do the rundown on the morning shows because they are pre-taped and they know what will be on the show in advance. At night, I'm assuming it's run like a newscast and is sometimes changed at the last minute if something doesn't work out, or if there's breaking news.

I partially agree about Leno/Conan ... I do like Conan, I think he is quite smart and enjoy his clown act but there is something simple and comforting about Leno and his show, his whole style which may not have the smartest lines, the best skits, but its good comfort TV ... after a long day, its good comfort TV ... the warm old pal sort of thing.

Conan should stay where he is for the audience he gets, either he will attempt to turn himself into a Vanilla Host to do The Tonight Show which will make his current fans loathe him, or he will do his shtick on the Tonight Show which will get Jay's big audience to hate him ... there is a reason why all of Jays audience doesn't watch Conan and scream for him to take over the Tonight Show, he is not the guy for them or the show ...

Well they need to find a way to incorporate into the evening SportsCenter. I know the 6pm and 11pm is live but they can do sometghing to put it on there. That's why I find myself liking the morning Sportscenter a lot more

I think Leno is gonna wind up on ABC or FOX. They will offer him a late night show in a heartbeat. NBC is SO stupid. I seriously wonder if Zucker is trying to kill them. Look at their primetime right now, it's a disaster in almost every timeslot, and in the news division ABC World News tops Nightly News, and GMA is closing the gap on Today.

I completely disagree about the Jay/Conan rant. Jay Leno hasn't been funny since the OJ Simpson trial ended in 1995! He's the inoffensive, vanilla host that everybody feels safe talking to because he'll never give them a hard time. Letterman, on the other hand, doesn't mind making his guests squirm (see the recent Paris Hilton interview), and that's funny.

Jay's comedy bits are consistantly subpar. Things like Iron Jay, Headlines, and Beyondo are yawners. Conan, on the other hand, consistantly makes me laugh. Triumph The Insult Comic Dog, Pale Force, and If They Mated are just some a few of the bits I can think of that deserve a larger audience.

I've waited patiently for Leno to be shown the door, so I can enjoy The Tonight Show. Good for NBC for not wimping out. Show Big Chin the door, for the sake of comedy lovers everywhere.

I still think Today has a lock on the morning time period but once Jay is gone NBC will no longer be in the lead at night

It's easy to make people laugh when you act like a monkey. My mom loves watching Conan because she think something is mentally wrong with him because of how CRAZY he acts when he comes on stage

Yeah, ABC has been "closing the gap" for about 3 years now and still hasn't overtaken them, but I definitely agree on the last part. I just don't understand it. Leno has consistently won the late night race for years.

And I never been a fan of REPLACEMENTS when it comes to TV. I rather have a long running show end than see someone new

Default Jay Leno

NBC will realize what a big mistake they've made when Conan takes over and the ratings drop sharply. Conan is probably the UNFUNNIEST "comedian" on late night tv. At least Jay makes you laugh (which is why he dominates the ratings almost daily). I'll be sad when Jay leaves but even sadder when Conan takes over.

I think Conan has a sense of humor that fits a small niche and he won't appeal to a broad audience in the Tonight Show slot...

... but it doesn't matter because Letterman should be the King of Late Night, he is far better than Jay OR Conan

I so love Jay Leno. He is unique, funny, witty and doesn't have to resort to doing what others do (Letterman) to be at the top. Letterman is who he is and he shouldn't be compared to anyone else. Jay is himself and shouldn't be compared to anyone else. I don't recall Jay being easy on Hugh Grant when he was caught with that prostitute. Hugh appeared on Jay's show and Jay straight out asked him, "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?" That is what we all wanted to know.

One of the most memorable moments on the Tonight Show

One of your best rants in awhile, Solomon! I hugely agree with the Leno/Conan dispute. Jay Leno needs to stay right where he is instead of getting replaced by some clown-acting jackass who thinks he's so great. Leno is the funniest thing in television . . . although, come 2009, I'm sure ABC will find a spot for him on their schedules.

It really makes me wonder what Zucker is doing with this network. Their primetime schedule is worse than watching C-SPAN at 4am. He's screwing up the network, and now he's even screwing up it's #1 latenight schedule. I can only hope The Tonight Show's ratings drop hugely once Conan takes over.
