Default DVD episodes - Originally, Uncut?

Are the episodes on the DVD's original and uncut? I'm debating on getting them, but only if they aren't edited. I hate watching the episodes and seeing bad editing...it's real noticeable in the final episode. Danny will be talking to Michelle on the couch and out of nowhere comes a voice from when she was looking at the photo album (which I haven't that part of the scene in years). And although I have the end of the episode, with the curtain call, I would hope that's included as well. I know the final season isn't out yet...but judging from the other seasons, can anyone tell me if they're uncut?

Thank you!

They're uncut.

I'm curious too if the final episode will have the curtain call. I remember it from when it originally aired and hope it's included.

Yes, you'll find many scenes cut and the original opening for all episodes. Seasons 1 and 2 usually last 24 minutes. Season 3 was around 23 minutes. Season 4 usually was 22:57. And seasons 5-7 lasted around 23:40. (These are just roughly rounded numbers).

They're mostly uncut, but season 5 has one pretty nasty case of music replacement.

Which one would that be? If you're referring to the one where Jesse plays with those old guys, and it's a different song that they sing, I doubt it was replaced, since they obviously filmed it when the episode was filmed, and there was no dubbing. I think that's how it had originally aired, it also show a cut scene where, the gang starts dancing, and Joey's stiff neck gets better.

I have not noticed any edits on any of the DVD's. All music is there, and all scenes are there (I've compared with my tapes of the original ABC versions). I'm hoping as well the curtain call is there . . . Wb is usually pretty good with including those things, though.

I believe both episodes ran almost 24 minutes, so it's uncut

Actually, that's the one. It's been dubbed over by a different song, and edited around so that you can't see that it doesn't match what they're actually singing. Remember how in the original version, Jesse is taken aback by how the old guys are doing the song? That's a little comedy moment that's gone on the DVD because it wouldn't have worked with the new song. It's definitely not how the episode aired originally.

Ummmm I don't think so, for one thing, they were standing on the DVD, but were sitting on TV, and had very different facial exprssions, they would never go to so much trouble on the DVDs to re-synch their lips, they'd just cut it out, roseanne88-97, do you have this on your tape? Can you tell us what it is?

What they did was dub it over with a song that was similar enough (maybe they made one up, for all I know) so that the lip sync doesn't look too bad. Look... I'm 100% sure about this. I wish it wasn't so, but it is.

OK, I looked at my DVD, but had to zoom in to see their lip movement, and it is a little out of sync. How'd they get them to stand up though?

I'm pretty sure they were always standing up at the very end of the episode.

You are definitely right. I just checked my DVD and the song is nothing like what we hear on the televised episode. I didn't have to watch their lips or anything. I could just tell by the music.

The final episode is edited from it's original airing. It's in two parts (originally it aired as an hour) and there's a scene where the family's in the waiting room that's been cut out. That scene is cut out in syndication, so it looks like for the finale, they just went with that version. And the casting call ending credits has been replaced by generic ending credits.

So basically the majority of the series is unedited on DVD, but for the other episode mentioned and the finale, we get screwed.
