Default Jericho: I don't understand CBS

Jericho is a great show. It was averaging 8-10 million last season, which is better than most new shows this season. If Big Bang Theory can get that each week and be called a hit for the network, why can't Jericho?

I just hope viewers actually decide to tune in when it does come back. Too bad we couldn't have gotten another full season this time around.

Jericho is a good show, you'd think they would order a full season of it.

They will order more episodes if the ratings improve. They have to improve though. It was very lucky to get renewed at all.

With the strike however, it may not matter.

I didn't really expect Jericho to come back until after the strike talk had been settled. This way CBS does have one script show they can run. With all the reruns coming on soon, this could work in Jericho's favor.

Do you know how many episode CBS ordered? I wasn't expecting it come back until the strike was really in full speed as well.

But, of all the networks, I think CBS will be hurt the least. They'll just have to rely on reality shows like Power of 10, the Amazing Race, and Jericho to perform well for them. With the direction TV is going nowadays anyways, this strike could really kill off viewers from several different shows.

They only ordered 7 but it could go longer if ratings are good. The producer's did film 2 endings in case it gets canceled so at least we'll have closure if things don't work out.

CBS is probably in the best shape because most of their shows repeat well because they aren't serialized. ABC I think is really going to be hurt except when Dances With The Stars is on. I agree that it's really going to hurt some shows. Ratings are down anyway and the strike will just make it worst.

Exactly. Ratings this season are some of the worst for new fall shows than they've been in awhile. The strike will probably put a dent in all television shows if lasts awhile, unlike the strike in 1988, where almost all the top 20 shows were averaging over 15 million.

Yeah, ABC is gonna hurt big, especially since they've got the 3 biggest new shows this season: Samantha Who?, Private Practice, and Pushing Daisies, plus their other big performers like Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Brothers and Sisters, Boston Legal, and Women's Murder Club. By February, if the strike would last that long, I'd expect 3 nights of DwtS, and a lot of AFV, maybe a couple nights of EM:HE and The Bachelor.

Jericho was panned for a mid season replacement all along. The writers strike shouldn't have any effect. Jericho did have good ratings until they pulled it for 12 weeks before bringing it back. That is what killed it to begin with. That is a FOX move if I ever saw one. Fox is notorious for moving their shows around so no one knows where they are. Then canceling them. Arrested Development anyone?

It's happened to many shows in the past. ABC moved Lost from Tuesday at 8pm I believe to Wednesdays at 10pm, which killed almost 4 million viewers. FOX decided to to 24 as a midseason show, which killed off a lot of viewers. I just don't understand why networks do these things to popular shows.

Actually I like what Fox did with 24. At least you know it's going to be on every week, and it won't be a repeat. Whereas with those long breaks in the middle like lost and jericho is a killer.

24 is the only one I like doing that. Maybe it wouldn't be too bad for Lost if they actually had 22 episodes a season and started in January. Waiting for February is for the birds. lol

Like for Lost, ABC would air 10 episodes, then put it on a 6 week hiatus. It made no sense. NBC did the same thing for Heroes last season. When it came back after it's hiatus, it lost a lot of viewers, and this season it can barely manage 10 million.
