Default Scott Peterson tries to claim proceeds of slain wife's life insurance!

http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline...peterson-.html

Scott Peterson was rebuffed yesterday in his efforts to claim the proceeds of a $250,000 life insurance policy on his pregnant wife.

Peterson was convicted of murdering Laci Peterson, who was eight months pregnant, in December 2003. From his new abode on death row, the infamous cad tried to convince a California appeals court to award him the money. It didn't work.

"In seeking the insurance benefits, Scott Peterson's lawyers said that because his case is on appeal, he is not covered by a state law barring a beneficiary who deliberately kills the policy-holder from collecting the insurance proceeds," the San Francisco Chronicle reports. "The appeals court disagreed, saying the conviction was admissible as evidence of the murder and that Peterson's lawyers had presented no evidence that he did not kill his wife."

The money will now go to Laci's mother, Sharon Rocha.

I would be banned for life on this board if I write what I really feel, so I will limit it to this:

And what the heck is this all about?? That loophole is so big you could drive a Buick through it. What in the world? Why haven't we done something about that ridiculous thing?!

considering the guy is never going to see the outside of a prison, why does he care? if he was coming up on parole soon and needed some money, this could make a little more sense (not that there's a lot of sense in this anyways)

He probably needs the money for his endless appeals.

I could go there too, but even the most foul profanity I can think of, would not do him justice. Talk about chutzpah wanting her life insurance proceeds. But what can you expect from such a person. Once a sociopath, always a sociopath.

Or just to keep it from the people who should rightfully have it...her parents...who might do something wonderful and charitable and for the good of others with it because they would rather have her back than have the money, and they'd want to keep others from having to go through what they did.
