I've just finished authoring a friend's VHS recordings of "Sex and the Silver Screen" to six DVDs at best possible quality (one hour per disk) mode. The quality is about 3/4 of a notch below excellent and there isn't a single tape glitch in the whole set that I noticed. Very nice and watchable. I made simple custom menus and placed sensible chapter stops. http://imdb.com/title/tt0290854/ (The IMDB has the title wrong; it does not include the word "Censorship".) Hosted by Raquel Welch, this 1995 six part Showtime original documentary series is the history of sex in the movies. Although the word "censorship" is not in the title, it does figure heavily into the script. Starting with the opening of the first movie house in New York City in the 1890s and continuing through a hundred years of films, there are many, many clips from the films themselves, as well as clips of the hysterically righteous stuffed shirts that decided for many years what free Americans were free to watch. Also covered are the careers of the major stars that have made the sparks fly since before any of us were born. There is a lot of nudity and even a few explicit scenes but that's to be expected given the theme. It's very well made and quite straightforward and I found it absolutely fascinating. If you'd like to trade for a set, drop me a line. - |
