Question John & Linda Sohus Case - does anyone know?

Hi Everyone,

I am a new poster here, and theirs a case thats always baffled me. Does anyone know the status on this case?

John & Linda Sojas were a married couple who dissappeared around 1986 or so. They lived with John's mother and she told friends of theirs that they were on a "mission" and had left town. Linda sent friends mysterious postcards saying she and John were in Europe. And then a few years later, bones were dug up in their back yard and they were said to be John's, if so what happened to Linda? Who was the mysterious woman who picked up Linda's cats from the pound? There was a mysterious man living with them, who was from out of town who purchased a truck from them, they think he may be the key to what happened to the couple, can anyone shed some light?

Welcome to the board btw...

Yes I think is one of the top cases that we would love to have more info on. I don't know of any updates and as far as I know they are still missing as well as Christopher Chichester. I can't help but think they met with foul play. I haven't seen this case in some time...I know they found the remains of a male near the house - were they ever able to say definitively whether is was John's or not? There have been a few theories floating around here that possibly Linda Sohus and Christopher Chichester were possibly having an affair (again just a theory, no real evidence of it). I think its a believable one especially if John's remains were onsite and Linda is still missing.

Thanks. I did hear on an update of this case that the bones that were found on the property were tested and did belong to John! This is such a weird case, too many unanswered questions!

Is this on any of CD's collections? I've seen it a long time ago, but I can't remember it very well. I couldn't find anything on the net about it either!

It's been a while since I watched this segment, one of the most intriguing ones IMO btw. I just find it hard to believe they weren't able to identify the bones they dug up in the backyard

I believe they thought it was the remains of John Sohus, but they were never able to prove it

Hi, yes they thought it was most likely John, they said the physical stature of the man found matched John. However they were unable to 100 percent prove it was him because there was no dental records for John to compare with the teeth from the dead body. However I would assume it was him, the body found in the back yard, plus the blood in the guest house where Chichester stayed.

Well, I think the theory that Linda was possibly having an affair with Chichester is very possible and even likely. I have always found it strange how if Chichester killed both of them why he wouldnt have just buried Linda's body with John's?

I guess it just doesnt make sense to me why Chichester would murder John unless he was involved with Linda and wanted Linda all to himself so he murdered John. Plus the postcards that were filled out in Linda's handwriting, now of course it is possible that Chichester had Linda fill the cards out before he murdered her and then he mailed them from Europe, but I think that it is mroe likely Linda herself mailed them. What I am trying to determine is when exactly the post cards were mailed and when exactly Chichester turned up in Connecticut with John's truck.

I want to say that Chichester turned up in Connecticut almost a year after John and Linda disappeared, didnt he moved out of the guest house about 6 months after John and Linda's disapperance? It almost makes me wonder if Linda actually hadnt gone anywhere but was staying with Chichester in the guest house the entire time.

Then there is the mysterious woman who went to pick up the cats, clearly someone tipped her off that the cats were at the kennell, either Chichester tipped her off or Linda herself did, what would Chichester care if Linda's cats were destroyed? But Linda would care and so it makes more sense she tipped off this mystery woman to go and get her cats.

I would say it is likely that Christopher Chichester, real name Christian Gerhardt Strider and Linda are living somewhere in Europe. Although it evident they were living in this country for at least several months after the "disapperance."

Is it possible that the woman who picked up Linda's cats was in on the conspiracy? John's mom totally acted weird after they disappeared, and maybe they wanted to escape her as they were living with her. Anthing is possible. I remember seeing this case a few times on Lifetime.

Is it possible that the woman who picked up Linda's cats was Linda herself? I remember that the segment never mentioned that there was a 100% certainty, that the lady who picked up the felines could not have been Linda herself. Strange case indeed.

Yes I thought so too, and if not Linda possibly a friend of hers. I mean why would anyone else want her cats? Wouldn't make sence..

My theory is that after she ran away with Chichester she felt she really missed her pets so she decided to go back and get them, she probably didn't think it was too risky...

All I know is that the picture they showed of Christopher Chichester gave me the creeps. This was one of my favorite cases on UM.
