Default Has anyone contacted UM following the news of its planned comeback?

In the wake of the news about the show's television comeback, has anyone here contacted UM? I'm just curious, since it is likely that the news of the show's impending return prompted some of you to write to them, especially to give story ideas or other general comments related to the show.

I called 1-800-876-5353 but no one answered...

JUST kidding. I'd be curious to know as well. Has the actual production company made any kind of a release yet? Be nice to know what they think.

Well truthfully UM was never good at replying back to anyone so I'd be shocked if someone actually heard back from them. I had thought of emailing Spike TV and thanking them for picking up UM. I wonder if they would give out any additional info like who the host may be. You never know.

I contacted UM and told them how much I like the show, and they sent me the entire series on dvd.

not really, but I wonder if this comeback will stir up viewer attention and maybe we will get more releases of the show on dvd. I know how spike(or at least the tnn) liked to run marathons when they got something good/new(friday the 13th for example). Anything will be better than those fighting/eating shows.

I'd be more apt to write to them if I thought it would do any good. I always feel that these letters are largely ignored and quickly tossed in the trash. it's a shame it would have to be that way, but I think that's what happens.

I sent a letter to UM this morning, asking for any information regarding the names of the candidates who are said to be on the "short list." In the same letter, I voiced my concern over the internet rumors about a possible Bryant Gumbel candidacy for the hosting job; I advised them to rule him out if the rumor is true.

By the way, since you noted that you considered contacting Spike TV, I strongly suggest that you. Not only to thank them for acquiring the show, but also to advise against hiring Bryant Gumbel as the new host (even though it's still unclear whether there's any truth to the rumor that Gumbel is a candidate for the job).

Spike TV has been given the duty to choose the new host. They might make their decision soon, so don't delay!

As of now all Spike plans to do is re-air the old shows with any updates, right?

So, WHY do you they want to get a new host when Robert Stack is already in those shows??? All they need is someone like Keely Shay Smith to do the updates.

They have the rights to the show, so basically they will be airing the reruns in a revamped version of show. But the Broadcasting & Cable acknowledged the possibility of new episodes (or as I see it, inevitability).

I guess you'd have to ask them.

As for Keely Shaye Smith, I don't think she ever really caught on with enough UM viewers; some felt that the show "jumped the shark" when she was brought on board. So my guess is that bringing her back to the show may be a moot point.

Just my two cents worth.

I went to the UM website and I saw the following. . . . . . .

UNSOLVED MYSTERIES
Now on Lifetime Real Women
Airing at 11 p.m. Monday through Friday and 4 a.m. to 6 a.m Fridays and Saturdays.

After checking out Lifetime Real Women website I cannot find UM on their schedule.

That information is obviously out of date.

Keely's presence couldn't have mattered THAT much. I don't think a show could jump the shark based on someone who just does updates and you don't even see her every show and even when you do she's on for less than 5 minutes.

As comedy guy said she is attractive and you know attractive women can only help the ratings! I'm not saying she should be the host but someone like her (she may be too old by now) could just do the updates while they keep Robert Stack for he re-runs.

I just don't see the point of getting a new host for OLD shows that already have Robert Stack. Get the new host for the new episodes.

Well, while she's still pretty - she has put on quite a bit of weight. So...I dunno.

Wow... So I guess you're perfect?

Second thought, don't answer that. This thread is going downhill fast.

I plan on writing some new story ideas down on paper and sending it to them. I don't expect to get a reply but you never know.

I just had a thought. Imagine Spike takes old segments and tapes the new hosts voice over them. That would seriously suck, but I see it as a very HIGH possibility.

It would be cool if spike showed one old show per night in it's original version, and showed a new at least once a week.

Who knows how it'll go.
