Default If You Made a Complete Series Set

Let's say you get a job working for Sony's DVD division and you are put in charge of "NewsRadio: The Complete Series." What would you do?

All these complete series sets use the same discs and just repackage them and maybe add a bonus disc. So that's what I'm going to do. The discs would be stored in a box that looks like a radio (naturally). You open it up and pull out the discs. On the bonus disc, I would include:

Our Fiftieth Episode Pop-Up Version

Injury - Unedited

Bill Moves On - Unedited

A new featurette with interviews with all the surviving cast members and many of the writers.

"NewsRadio: The Lost Footage" - This would be hosted by one of the writers, and it would basically be all the best bits that didn't make it into the episodes. It would be a chance to see brand new Bill McNeal footage.

Phil Hartman Tribute - The cast talks about their late friend, Phil. Maybe we'd even get an update on how his kids are doing. And, of course, there would be a musical montage of Bill McNeal.

The Donny and Marie Show - With the NewsRadio cast in the fifth season.

What would you put in your DVD set?

I really can't think of anything to add to that. That's pretty much the perfect Complete Series box set right there and I'd certainly buy it even if it cost $150-$200.

Maybe some of the cast member's appearances on various late night talk shows like Dave Foley's appearance on Conan shortly after Newsradio ended. I'm sure Andy Dick and Phil Hartman appeared on a few talk shows while Newsradio was still on the air, those would be interesting to see.

My sister (thankfully) recorded a few interviews during the show. There's one I saw that was done during maybe early in the second season with Dave Foley being interviewed by Tom Snyder. That was a good interview and Dave talked about his role as a ball in a pinball game. He also mentions that he likes "Green Acres" and "The Bob Newhart Show."

I loved his interview on Conan. That was classic. I didn't tape it, but I wish I had.

I actually taped his appearance on Conan, but unfortunately I taped over it years ago.

I remember one time Andy Dick was on Letterman. It might have been a year or two after Newsradio ended, I'm not sure, but he cut some of his hair off and Letterman wasn't happy about that at all. I wish I taped that, it was a classic.

The only thing that I would add to Adam's list is an extensive gallery of never-before-seen photos of cast and crew (aside from the overused NBC publicity stills from back then).
