Here is an interesting moment from "Mertz and Kurtz." After Fred and Barney sing "I Want a Girl," everyone is laughing, clapping and very excited. Lucy is kicking her legs like a little girl. Then all of a sudden she turns her head and looks into the audience/camera. I've never seen her do anything like that before. I'm wondering if she was looking at her mother DeDe in the audience to see if she enjoyed the song too! I don't know why else she would turn her head away from the action.

I have always noticed that moment myself and just wondered if she got caught up in the moment and looked at the reaction of those around, since it seems the duo had received a substantial applause and reaction from the audience. I wonder if maybe some of the crew on the set were applauding as well, causing Lucy to look in that direction.

If you notice, it seems Mr. Kurtz himself is looking straight ahead too.

Maybe there was something impromptu or ad-libbed about the performance that made it special and made Lucy want to encourage audience applause, even if just for a split second. Seems like I've seen actors/performers do that before-- when something special happens, sometimes they seem like they break character for the tiniest moment to appreciate what happened. Another example I can think of is when Ray Charles guested on Who's the Boss?. After his song, Katherine Helmond appeared to break character for a split second when she turned slightly toward the audience and clapped with her hands above her head for just a moment. Could it have been something like that?

She kind of looks like an over grown child in that scene. LOL!
