Here's my first fanfic. It takes place in Season 3 before the episode Sweet Sorrow. Eddie and Jo's parents make a small appearance. Anyways, hope you like!

Grease is the Word

CAFETERIA-AFTERNOON

Mrs. Garrett is cleaning up some of the tables as Jo, Natalie and Tootie walk in talking.

TOOTIE: Jo, you have to try out! It will be so much fun.

Jo: I don't think so Tootie.

NAT: Oh, C'mon Jo. The Summer Nights are calling!

MRS.G: What's the problem girls?

JO: There is no problem.

TOOTIE: No problem?! Mrs. Garrett, they are holding auditions tomorrow for Eastland and Bates performance of 'Grease' and Jo refuses to try out.

JO: I never refused.

MRS.G: Oh?

JO: Tootie and Nat just think I should try out for... (sort of disgusted) Sandy.

MRS.G: Oh Jo, you would be wonderful!

JO: Well of course I would! It's just I don't want to be a lovesick Austrailian blonde.

NAT: Sandy doesn't have to be blonde. All you need to do is make your accent stiff until it sounds semi-proper.

JO: Proper?

Blair walks in joyfully.

BLAIR: Hello all!

MRS.G: Hi.

Blair embraces Mrs. Garrett.

BLAIR: Isn't it a glorious day?

JO: (looks at Blair questioningly) Who slapped you upside the head today?

Blair glares at Jo but then looks back at Mrs. Garrett.

BLAIR: I cannot wait until the auditions tomorrow! I am gonna blow them away!

NAT: Blow who where?

BLAIR: Natalie, Natalie, Natalie. Do you know who'll be auditioning for the role of Sandy tomorrow?

TOOTIE: Sure we do. Jo.

Blair's smile suddenly turns confused.

BLAIR: WHAT?!

JO: Tootie, I didn't say I'd -

BLAIR: Jo can't try out for Sandy, she, she...

NAT: She can sing?

TOOTIE: She's got great stage presence?

NAT: She can act?

TOOTIE: She's talented?

Blair is speechless.

NAT: Take your pick Blair, we've got all day.

JO: Guys, stop it.

BLAIR: Jo isn't, well she's not...

JO: Blair just forget it. Since it will satisfy you so, (glares at Nat and Tootie) I'll try out. But I am not gonna guarrrente a thing.

TOOTIE: That is all we were asking.

Nat and Tootie exit into the kitchen.

MRS.G: You'll do great! I know it.

Jo and Mrs. Garrett smile at each other and head to the kitchen leaving Blair alone and with a confused look on her face.

BLAIR: What about me?

Blair follows them into the kitchen.


That's all for now. It's almost midnight and I need to get up at 4:30 tomorrow. I'll write more tomorrow, I hopw you like this one though.

Thanks for the great reviews so far. Here's a little more.

CAFETERIA-NEXT DAY

Mrs. Garrett is at a table working on some bills as Tootie, Nat, and Jo walk in smiling.

TOOTIE: Mrs. Garrett, Mrs. Garrett! You won't believe what happened at the auditions!

MRS.G: Jo, you got the part of Sandy.

JO smiles) Close.

MRS.G: Blair got the part.

The girls look at each other and them burst into laughter.

MRS.G: What's so funny?

NAT: Mrs. Garrett you should have seen Blair's audition!

TOOTIE: She was so funny!

MRS.G: What happened?

JO: Well you see she was singing 'Hopelessly Devoted to You' and she was doing really well.

MRS.G: How is that funny?

NAT: You know Blair, she had custom made props with her.

TOOTIE: Including a wading pool with water in it.

MRS.G: What happened?

JO: Well as she was gettin to the first refrain she totally cracked. By the second verse she sounded terrible.

MRS.G: Poor thing.

JO: That's not the funny part. See, she was walking around the stage struggling to keep up with the music and she kind of tripped.

NAT: And fell face first into the pool!

MRS.G: Poor Blair! What part did she get?

TOOTIE: No part. She said she wanted Sandy or no part at all but she messed up her only shot.

MRS.G: Who did get the part of Sandy?

JO: Sue Ann Weaver. She was pretty good actually.

NAT: But not as good as Jo!

JO: Nat, I am the only one that can gloat about myself.....but you're right.

MRS.G: What part did you get?

JO: We're all Pink Ladies. I'm Rizzo, Tootie's Frenchie, and Nat's Jan.

MRS.G: That's wonderful!

JO: Not for Blair. I felt so bad for her. I tried to help her ofstage but she just yelled at me so I backed off.

MRS.G: She was probably devestated.

TOOTIE: Devestated? She was downright ugly!

Thanks again for the reviews! Here's more. It is right after I left off when Tootie says Blair was downright ugly.

Blair comes walking into the cafeteria, hair soaking wet and glaring at Jo.

NAT: Speaking of which Tootie and I have some homework to do upstairs.

TOOTIE: No we don't, it's Friday.

NAT: (pulling Tootie's arm) Yes, we do!

TOOTIE: (catching on) Oh yeah. That homework.

Nat and Tootie exit through the kitchen leaving Jo and Mrs. Garrett with an angry Blair.

MRS.G: (uncomfortably) Hi, Blair. How was your audition?

Blair doesn't answer. She's glaring at Jo how's stareing back uncomfortably.

MRS.G: I see. Well, I, ummmm, I got to go and, uhhh, start dinner. Bye.

Mrs. Garrett walks quickly to the kitchen.

JO: Blair, look, I'm sorry you didn't get the part. But I'm sure if Sue Ann can't be Sandy you're the understudy.

BLAIR: (angrily) Wrong?

JO: What?

BLAIR: I asked the director and do you know who she told me was the understudy?

JO: (backing away uncomfortably) Who?

BLAIR: You.

JO: (still backing away) Oh. Oh, I uhh, I have too...(looks into Blair's angry face) Hell! I just gotta go!

Jo runs out of the cafeteria leaving Blair to stare angrily after her.


Ok. My sis has to work on a report so I'll most more ASAP!

This is really cute! The thought of Jo playing good-goody Sandy makes me LOL! Keep up the good work.

PS---Jo and Tootie dress exactly as Rizzo and Frenchie in the flashback sequence of '62-Pick-up. I think Jo was called Frizzo in that episode. I forget what Tootie was called though. It might have been Frenchie, but I'm not sure.
