Here's the first part of several, and I'm not sure when I can post more cause I'm REALLY busy with school and shows and stuff, but I'll try. Hope you like it.
Jo ran in her bathroom and found Rick shaving. He'd just taken a shower and had a towel around his waist. "Morning," he said, smiling and looking over at her. She didn't respond or say anything. She just ran to him and put her arms around him from behind, kissing the middle of his back and holding back tears. "What's that for?" he asked, turning around, still smiling. She simply hugged him closer and buried her head against his chest. "Hey, what's wrong?" he asked, concerned. "Mommy! Daddy!" Jamie screamed from the living room. Rick looked from his wife to the living room. What could they be so upset about? Jo took Rick's hand and led him to the living room. On their way, Jo went in Teddy's room and picked him up out of his crib. He smiled and gurgled and she immediately thought of his innocence to everything. On the other hand, that innocence might be a blessing. She wouldn't want him to have to deal with this. She joined Rick on the way to their living room. As soon as they came around the corner of the hall, Jamie ran to her parents and threw her arms around her mother's legs. "Mommy! Look!" she said, pointing to the television. She looked at her mother with large eyes that didn't understand anything that was going. But then again, who did? "Sweetheart? What's wrong?" Rick asked, picking up his daughter. She hugged him close and felt his hands rub her back. He gave her a kiss on her cheek before he focused his attention on the news. Right in front of his eyes was footage of a man jumping from a window in a tall building that was smoking and burning violently. "Oh, my God," he said, quietly with a stone face. He carried Jamie to where he sat down, on the couch. Jo followed him and quickly slipped her hand in his. They sat together and watched the news, dumbstruck. That morning, Blair was in her daughter's room, singing quietly to the sleeping baby. Often times she got up in the middle of the night and just looked at her, praying an extra prayer of thanks and protection for her little Angel. Robert walked in hurriedly with a shocked and distraught look on his face. "Blair? Oh, there you are," he said, hoarsley, coming over and hugging her. "Honey, come with me," he said quietly. "What? What is it?" she asked, very nervously just looking at her normally together husband who looked like he was falling apart. "Just...come listen to the news," he said, in a fog and daze. "Shouldn't you be getting ready for work?" she asked "Blair!" he cried, angrily, grabbing her hand and pulling her out of the chair. "I'm sorry, just come with me, honey," he said. "Something...something terrible has happened." Blair silently followed him to the T.V., which was turned up several notches higher than usual. Blair's jaw dropped and her mind cleared of every other thought. She sat stunned as she watched the burning buildings and the reporter doing the best he could to deliver the horrific and devastating news. Also that morning, Tootie had just woken up. She stretched and looked over at her sleeping husband. She smiled. He looked so cute. Jeff rolled over and they said good morning to each other and kissed. They sat up in bed to enjoy a nice few moments together. They were often so busy it was hard to find time for each other. Jeff casually turned on the radio next to their bed and he started stretching. As soon as the words the reporter was saying hit them they stopped what they were doing and sat in shock, looking from the radio to each other. Tootie hugged Jeff and he held her back. At least they had each other during this terrible time. Natalie also was playing with her little girl. She'd had an unusual name on her adoption records, indicating her nationality. She was French and her name was Cosette, with the s pronounced like a z. Natalie had taken to calling her Cozy with a long o. Cosette looked quite happy in her new home, and Natalie knew she would be a perfect mother for her, being adopted herself, she would know EXACTLY some of the emotions she'd felt as a child: abandonment, worthless, unloved... Natalie would make sure she would feel loved and wanted. She was helping Cosette with a puzzle and had never had so much fun when Cosette would jump up and down and clap her hands when she finally found a place for one of the pieces. Natalie would encourage her and clap her hands along with her, and the two bonded. Their bonding was however interrupted when Bill shouted to them ina voice Natalie had never heard from him before. "Natalie!" he yelled from the living room. "What?" Natalie called to him, through the door. "Come here! Something awful has happened!" he shouted, with his throat hoarse and like he had been stunned. Natalie picked up her little girl, fearing what she would find that was so awful. She walked to the living room and as soon as she got there she heard Bill with his face in his hands sobbing. "Bill, what's-" she started, but she didn't finish. She didn't need to finish. She watched the screen in terror at the reporter. "This morning, around nine am Eastern time, a plane crashed into the side of one of the twin world trade towers. A second plane followed several minutes later, and crashed into the second tower. The pentagon has also been hit by another of these commercial planes which appears to have been hijaked then flown into their destinations." The reporter took a deep breath and looked like she was holding back tears. "It is believed that thousands of innocent Americans may be dead as a result of this terrorist act against the U.S." More coming later, like it so far? ------------------ Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most. By the way, the four girls are living in Peekskill, they moved back in between my third and fourth eps...I think.
Thanks for the comments and replies, here's more! Jo handed Rick Teddy and got up and went to th phone. "Jo, what are you doing?" he asked, tearing his eyes away from the news and looking at his wife. "I...I...have to call dad," she said, in a daze. She picked up the phone, dialed his number and waited as it rang. "Hello?" came a desperate and loud voice. "Dad? Thank God, you're okay," she said. "I...I...can't believe this happened, Jo!" he said. He sounded as though he might fall apart at any time. "I know, dad, I'm just checking. No one we knew was anywhere near there, were they?" she asked, praying a prayer over and over in her mind for the safety of all her friends. "Not that I know of, Jo, I'm just glad we're all safe." "Yes, and to think Rick and I and the kids were going to go to New York for a visit one of these days." They both hung in silence at that terrible thought. Life was so precious and so fragile and so...short. "You know what kills me?" Charlie said, to his only daughter. "What?" she asked. "Lots of kids don't have their parents anymore because of this," he said, solemnly. Jo began to cry. Thank God she had her children and her husband. Where would she be without them? Suppose they had been there when this had happened? The thought was too much for her to bear. Charlie knowingly listened to his daughter's cries. "I know, Jo, I know...I'm gonna go now." "Okay," she mumbled pulling herself together somewhat. "I love you, dad," she said, knowing that at any moment the people she cared about and loved the most could be taken away. "I love you, too," he replied, hanging up. Jo dropped the phone down and ran to her family. Rick was standing up and received her hug as she collapsed in his arms. Jamie came up behind them and tugged on her father's towel. He looked back at her and smiled to reassure her everything was all right. He took one arm off Jo and scooped his daughter up in the other. He held her close to him and kissed her over and over again. "Daddy? Everything's going be okay, right?" she asked, with hopeful eyes. Even though she was young and only six, she fully understood the images flashing on her screen. She may not have realized all the motives and the reasons, the religious conflicts going on and the racial undertones, but she knew what burning buildings and people crying meant. Rick looked at her helplessly. He didn't know if everything was going to be all right. "At least we're all here and safe, baby," he said, to her, hugging her once more. Jo looked at her daughter and put a hand on her head. She smoothed her hair out and smiled as best she could at her daughter. Were things going to be okay? Or was this just the beginning? Would our country go to war again? Would her husband be drafted? Would they possibly be defeated? Jo's mind went way too fast and she had to slow herself down. America is a strong country she had to keep telling herself. It has the most advanced weapons, educated people, resources, and allies. That calmed her. She was safe, for the moment anyway. |

Thanks for responding! Here's more!
Blair cried into her daughter's hair. Her head drooped in sobs as she watched the terrifying events happen on her screen right in front of her. Robert came in from the kitchen and brought his family some biscuits. Blair half-heartidly picked one up and took a small bite out of it. "At least we're safe," Robert offered. He tried to cheer her up. "What about all those other people?" Blair shot. "What about those poor innocent people who went to work this morning and won't be coming back to their husbands or wives and children?!" She looked at Angel and began to weep even more. What if that beautiful baby sitting on her lap was forced to grow up without a mother or father? Robert sat next to his wife, kissed her cheek, and had his arm around her tightly, comforting her. Blair rose her head from her weeping and said in a shaky voice. "And it's all because of some vicious and terrible people taking out their anger on us." Her face distorted and her sadness turned to anger. We had to get back at whoever did this. We had to show them they weren't going to mess with us and get away with it. We had to fight back and take action, immediately. Natalie called her mother, also living in New York. "Mom, are you all right?" she asked, as soon as she heard someone pick up the receiver. "Natalie? Oh, good, you're all right, yes I'm fine honey. Although I had a pretty close call this morning," said Natalie's mother. She sounded very worn and drained from all the excitement. She was a much older woman now and wasn't as strong as she used to be. "What? Were you near there?" asked Natalie, getting frightened. But her mother's voice strangely calmed her, it always had. "I was going to go to Grenache Village this morning and take a walk there. Remember I was telling you how my doctor wanted me to get out and exercise more? So, I was going to go, and that's right where the trade centers are, but an old episode of the Dick Van Dyke Show was on so I just had to stay in and watch it. It's amazing, but Dick Van Dyke probably saved me from dying today." A lump in her mother's throat was apparent as she told her daughter of her fortunate happenings. "Thank God you're okay, mom," she said, sighing a sigh of relief. Tootie and Jeff were now glued to the television as they watched in horror the atrocities the medical emergency people were having to see and deal with. They mareveled at how quickly and efficiently things were being taken care of. Police officers had already set up restricted areas tape and were helping move people away from the burning buildings. Ambulances were systematically and thoroughly going through the rubble and smoke and saving as many lives as they could. "This has just been reported," began another reporter, still fighting for composure. "Another commercial plane has just gone down in Pennsylvania. It has not hit any buildings and officials are unsure if there is a connection to the other terrorist happenings, but it is likely." "Wait a minute, oh, my God," Blair said, looking at her husband, hoping her thoughts were untrue. "What? What is it?" asked Robert, who was rocking their sleeping baby. "Mrs. Garrett was going to be in New York this week!" she shouted, putting her hand over he mouth, as she felt fresh tears form in her eyes. What if Mrs. Garrett had been injured or...killed? |

Thanks, Ryan! And everyone, too, for the comments!
Jo had showered and dressed to try and take her mind off everything and cool down. As soon as she had gone past the grieving stage for her overwhelmed country, she began to venture into the revenge realm of things. She wanted to blast who did this to America off the face of the earth, and sparing no torture or punishment. "Mommy?" Jamie asked, coming in her parent's room where Jo was tying her hair back. Jo looked over at her daughter as she put the hair in a ponytail. "What, honey?" Jamie sat on the bed, folded her arms and looked intently into her mother's eyes. "Who made those people cry?" Jo sighed. As a parent she was at a loss for words to comfort her daughter and answer her questions. "We don't know yet, but we'll find them." "What will we do to them?" she asked, again searching for more answers to this confusing time. "Well, our president and leaders will have to decide that. Frankly, I don't envy their job. They have to come up with a way to deal with and punish the bad people who did this to gain back our respect for our country, but our response can't be exaggerated or extreme or else we'll lose the respect of other countries." "Why do we care what they think?" shot Jamie. She reminded Jo of herself when she was that young, not caring about other people's opinions of her. "Well, honey, when politics and terrorists mix, things become very complicated." Jo breathed heavily. She knew her daughter would have lots of questions she wouldn't be able to answer, but she committed to trying to answer them and tell her the truth. She couldn't sugarcoat this, even for a six-year-old. "What's that mean? Torrists?" Jamie asked, cocking her head. "Terrorist is a person who does really mean and bad things to someone else or to another country. They take their anger out in a violent way." "Why do they have to do that? Did we make them angry? Why did they run into those buildings?" "The trade centers in NY symbolized America's wealth and prosperity and economy. By attacking those buildings they felt they were attacking our prosperity and our economy." Jo sighed and was at a loss for all the inevitable questions. "Sweetheart, things get very complicated when people grow up. They-" "Mommy! Tell me! Did we do something bad to them?" Jamie asked. "They live in a country where their government isn't as lenient as ours is. In other words, we have a lot more freedoms than they do. Their government may be using propaganda to tell them we're bad people and we're doing bad things." "So, then it's not really their fault if their government told them we're bad and that's all they know," Jamie said, trying to understand it all. "Well, people need to really look into things themselves instead of trusting what other people say. Also, our country helps out other countries a lot, especially when people's rights are in jeopardy, like for instance, the United States has political and ally ties with Israel, in other words, we support them. It's likely that the people or group or country that did this is either Muslim, Palestinian, or Ben Lauddin. The Muslims have consistently been against the Jews, even going back to Biblical times. By us supporting Israel, they are angry at us, too." "But, what have we done to them? If they're mad at Jewish people, why are they against us? Why don't they like Jewish people?" Jamie shook her head. Too much information and foreign concepts were being thrown her way and her brain couldn't handle it. "Oh, never mind, I don't understand. Why can't people just get along? I mean, why don't those people who did this think about how they would feel if someone killed their families?" Jo sat on the bed, next to her daughter and put her arm around her. "See, things get complicated. People get weird when they grow up," she said, trying to put some humor back in the situation. "You use too many big words. Oh, my gosh!" she said, jumping up. "What?" "It's after eight! I'm late for school!" "It's okay honey, I don't want you at school today. Daddy's not going to work, so we'll all just stay home." "Really?" she asked, excited. "Yup, come on, let's go hear the latest." Jo picked her daughter up and they went back to the family room where Rick was feeding Teddy and had his eyes glued to the television. I tried to explain some stuff some peeps may not know about, so hope ya got all that. More later! |
