weren't added in season 5?

I've been watching the reruns on TV One and I feel like too many things changed in season 5 that it killed the series. I know Jackee and Marla weren't best friends but I do think her exit a few eps into season 5, plus all the new cast members was too much for the series. Does anyone else think if Jackee had stayed and the new characters had been integrated more slowly that the series could've maybe lasted until maybe 92 or 93.

I agree that too many characters were added in the last season. The more characters you have, the more storylines that have to be created for one episode to keep everyone involved. You have to remember that other characters were dropped from the series also. When the show first started, Rose had a daughter (Tiffany) who was Brenda's best friend. As the show went on, it was made that Rose never had a child.

Then Alexandria came in during the 4th season and dropped for the fifth sesason with no explanation. I don't think anyone was horribly upset to see her go. The Tiffany, Brenda and Calvin trio could have made some good storylines and even could have carried a few episodes.

If Jackee would have stayed, I think the series would have made it to 92 at best.

I liked the new characters. I remember them being very funny to me. Alexandria was written out as going to be with her globetrotting father. It is ironic how Countess Vaughn went from playing an intellectual character to playing ghetto blond airhead on two other shows? LOL.

LOL, good observation about Countess Vaughn. I'm glad 227 gave her a start but her character really was not needed on there. Its ashame that Curtis Baldwin didn't continue acting. He could have done well on another series.

I have to agree. She was not needed. As a kid, I was glad that she was there. I always liked seeing other kids on television.

Another thing I hated about Alexandria is that she was unrealistically smart. It was like she was some grumpy adult in a child's body. Kids on TV are great, I used love seeing other young people on TV when I was younger but Alexandria was boring like a dial tone.
