Default Can Anyone Help?

Several years ago, my Grandpa and I watched a special about Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. It included a lot of home movie footage (around the pool), that we really enjoyed. The thing that we both noticed was that Lucy was rather shy and looked completely different without her makeup, and Desi was the life of the party. We were both shocked as to the difference in Lucy.

Does anyone know what the hell I am talking about? I would love to see/purchase that presentation, but I am not sure what we viewed.

I know what you saw because I seen it too, as to what it was called I am at a lost. I know that CBS aired it but that is all I can remember. Gee, now I am going to be wondering...

I think you're talking about Lucy and Desi A Home Movie. It was produced by Lucie Arnaz. Did it have interviews with Lucie and Desi Jr?

I think that might be it, but I can't find any other resource to obtain it.

Ebay is always a good place. I got mine from Cathy's Closet several years ago.

That definitely sounds like Lucy and Desi: A Home Movie. Lucie and her husband won an Emmy award for that film. And Lucie's ex, Phil Vandervort was involved in the project as well. It's an excellent documentary, but it was produced in the early '90s at a time when Lucie was still dealing with some personal issues regarding her mother. Desi had not gotten the best press through the years with regard to the marriage and divorce. Sometimes it feels in this documentary that Lucie is trying to compensate by countering with more negative stuff about her mother than her father. Don't get me wrong, this is a warts-and-all discussion of *both* of them, but it just feels like we're seeing more of Lucy's warts than Desi's. Regardless, I still think it's, by far, the best documentary ever made on their lives because it goes far beyond the surface and examines not only who they were as people, but what people or events impacted their lives to make them who they were. It sort of psychoanalyzes them. I've never seen a documentary delve so deeply into a person as that one did. So Lucie deserved that Emmy.

Oh yeah, Lucille Ball's daughter DESERVED the EMMY award for a tv movie documentary FILMED by her parents, and starring her mom's friends and family, and financed with mom's money left in her will, LOL! But you're right, it was just excellent, how could it not be with all that rare family footage that we'd never seen before, even Lucie said that when mom screened the home movies, she'd show them the material they were in while growing up so it was new to her also. And of course she showed her mom's faults and dad's being perfect, it's what she's always thought. But as she spends those millions left by mom instead of the debts left by dad, she should remember that it was mom's hard work and savings that left her rich today. Don't get me wrong, Lucie is talented and beautiful, but i wish her therapists would help her get rid of the anger or resentment towards her mom, that she's harbored for decades now. If she had stayed home to feed her her pablum and play with her rattle, we wouldn't be celebrating the world's best clown here right now and she would have no HUGE cheques to cash, LOL!

As Ive said before, that doc left me with one important revelation, Desi and Lucy were the loves of each other's lives; it was one of the most intimate looks at the private lives of a public couple, ever done.

So sorry about that, but i'm been listening or reading her harsh words for decades and there's lots of built up anger, sort of a Lucy Dearest if you know what i mean, LOL! But i find Lucie to be very talented and quite beautiful, apparently she's a fine decorator, and has raised great kids, she sings and dances very well too. You see, i DO love her, just hate her seeming ungratefulness and not realizing that everything she has comes from MOM!

Oh yeah, i so agree, every frame was LOVE filled, you saw the love ooze out of each of them, i'm glad they left that behind for us to see how they truly felt towards each other back then and till the day they died.
