Post Responsible- script

Ok I've got a lot of scripts that I haven't posted so here it goes. Tell me
what you think of them.

Responsible
Scene: Girl’s room.
Blair is sitting on her bed, reading a book. Jo comes running in.
Jo: Guess what- I just found an extremely easy way to make a bit of cash.
Blair: How?
Jo: You know how the Johnson’s are going on vacation? Well they were going to put Max into the kennel. I offered to watch him.
Blair: You mean your going to take care of their Cocker Spaniel?
Jo: Yeah- all I have to do is go over and feed the thing in the morning and at night. At the end of the week I’ll be paid fifty bucks! What could be easier?
Blair: Well your going to miss the big party tonight.
Jo: No I won’t- it’ll take like fifteen minutes to go feed the puppy. I’ll be back in plenty of time.
Later at the party. Jo is talking to a guy. Blair walks over.
Jo: Hey Blair- this is Ben. Ben meet Blair.
Ben: (to Blair) Hi. (to Jo) So as I was saying I have to go now. But I was wondering- would you like to go out tomorrow night?
Blair (interrupting): Oh Jo- you are with Max tomorrow night. (to Ben) Actually she’s with him everynight this week.
Ben: Who’s Max?
Blair: Oh he’s who Jo’s dedicated her entire week to. They’re so cute together!
Ben (thinking Max is a boy not a puppy): Oh Jo- I didn’t know. Well I guess I’ll see you later. Bye.
Jo: Wait...
Ben leaves.
Jo: YOU MADE HIM THINK I WAS GOING OUT WITH MAX!!!
Blair (innocently): Oh did I?
Jo: Don’t play innocent with me. You did that on purpose! You are going to pay for this!!!
Later. A guy continually stares at Blair. She walks across the room. He is still looking at her. She starts conversing with someone else and looks back- he’s still looking at her. Blair walks over to Jo.
Blair: You see that guy over there?
Jo: Yeah what about him?
Blair: He keeps looking at me- he’s giving me the creeps.
Jo: Well maybe he likes you.
Blair: Well I’m not interested- he’s from the Bronx!
Jo: AND WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT!!!
Blair: Oh nothing- for you.
The guy walks over to Jo and Blair and says: Hi my name is Fred.
Jo: well I’m Jo and this is Blair.
Blair elbows Jo and gives her a look that says don’t talk to him.
Fred: Well I couldn’t help but notice you look exceptionally beautiful tonight Blair.
Blair: Oh- well thank you.
Fred: Would you like some punch?
Blair: I suppose- I mean I’d love some.
Fred goes to get some punch.
Blair: Can you get him to go away?
Jo: Well your good at scaring men away- why don’t you do it?
Blair: Very funny Jo. What do I do? Oh great here he comes again.
Fred comes back.
Fred: Here you are Blair.
Blair: Thank you that was very kind.
Jo: Well I’ll let you two get to know each other.
Jo walks away. Blair tries to grab the back of Jo’s shirt to make her stay but misses. Jo turns and winks at Blair.
Later that night. Blair is still talking with Fred. She looks very bored and almost worn out from conversing with him all night. Jo comes over.
Fred: Well its getting late- I’d better be going.
Blair: Oh really? My how time flies when your having -ahem- fun.
Fred: Well would you like to go out tomorrow night?
Blair: Oh I’d love to -I really would- but I’m busy. Jo what was that thing that I had to do again?
Jo: Oh you mean cleaning up the kitchen?
Blair: Yes that’s it I have kitchen duty tomorrow night.
Jo: Oh but I said I’d take your shift for you!
Blair: well how thoughtful Jo- but really I think I probably should...
Jo: Its no problem at all- you kids go out and have a fine time!
Fred: Well tomorrow at eight?
Blair (very disappointed): Sounds great.
Fred leaves.
Blair: Jo how could you do that to me?
Jo: Well you have me dating a puppy!
The next day. Its a little after seven thirty.
Blair: Oh I think I’m sick.
Jo: Oh quit complaining Blair- you know your not sick. Your just trying to get out of your date.
Blair: No I’m really sick. I’d better go lay down.
Jo: You’ve been fine all day.
Blair: It just must be one of those flu’s that set in very quick.
Blair goes upstairs. The doorbell rings. Jo goes to the stairs- then goes and answers the door.
Jo: Hi Fred. I don’t know how to say this- but apparently Blair has gotten sick. I think it has to do with her head. She probably should go to the doctor (shouts upstairs) AND GET IT EXAMINED!!!
Fred: Oh- I see. Well I came over here hoping to spend an evening with a lovely young woman. Could that possibly still happen?
Jo (not getting the hint that he’s trying to politely ask her out): Well Blair seems to have come down with something. I really don’t think she’s up to going out tonight.
Fred: I wasn’t talking about Blair- I was talking about you.
Jo: ME?!?! (Flattered that he asked her out) Well- gee- I’m not exactly dressed to go out.
Fred: Well you want to go see that new movie? I hear its supposed to be a good one! We can grab a burger on the way there.
Jo: Sure- what the heck- why not.
Later. Jo comes in the door with Fred behind her.
Jo: That was a lot of fun. Thanks.
Fred: It was a lot of fun wasn’t it? Well I guess I’ll call you.
An unsettling moment goes by when Fred tries to figure out if he should try to kiss Jo or not. Finally he gives her a quick peck on the cheek then leaves. Jo goes upstairs.
Blair: Where have you been?
Jo: Oh when Fred heard you got sick he asked me out.
Blair: YOU WENT OUT WITH FRED!!! You backstabber.
Jo (taken a little aback): I’m a what?!?! Your the one who downright refused to go out with him.
Blair: Your right. I’m not used to you getting more dates than me. I’m a little, oh I don’t know the word for it...
Jo: Jealous?
Blair: I guess.
Jo: Covetous?
Blair: Yeah yeah yeah.
Jo: Green-eyed?
Blair: Alright already. Now your just rubbing it in.
Jo: Well maybe I am. Anyway I didn’t have more dates than you- you had a date and you turned it down. That’s when I had a date- thanks to you I had no dates before that.
Blair: Well not exactly- I felt bad for being so nasty towards Fred so I thought I’d do something nice...
Jo (interrupting): Needed a little change?
Blair: Very funny. So as I was saying- I called Ben and straightened everything out. He knows that Max is a puppy and you probably should call him back.
Jo: Oh my gosh! I left Max outside since four this afternoon. I forgot about him!
Blair: Oh good going Jo. (sarcastically) Well when I get a puppy and have to go away I know exactly who to call.
Jo: Well I’ve got to go- I’d better let him in and feed him he hasn’t had any dinner!
Blair: I’ll come with you- I love Cocker Spaniels and have always wanted to see the Johnson’s puppy.
Jo: Fine- lets go.
They leave the house. When they get to the Johnson’s, Jo unlocks the door and they run through the house to the back door. They run out the back door and start calling for him.
Jo and Blair: Max, Max, MAX!!!
Blair: Apparently the puppy is gone. The fence is open.
Jo: Oh great! It’s ten o’clock, dark, cold and we can’t find the puppy!!!
Blair: We? Where did we come from. You are in charge of the puppy. It’s not my fault that its gone.
Jo: Well you wanted come with me so now your in this too.
Blair: Well what do we do?
Jo: I don’t know- I have to think.
Blair: Oooh big moment! Well don’t hurt yourself.
Jo: I’ll hurt you if you don’t shut up.
Blair: This isn’t getting us anywhere.
Jo: Well what would you do?
Blair: I’m not sure. I wonder how much Cocker Spaniels run for these days.
Jo: We can’t replace the puppy. I would think they would realize if its not their own puppy.
Blair: Did they ever say if their puppy escaped before?
Jo: No- but they did say he loves the park- maybe he’s there.
Blair: Lets go.
Jo: Ok but lets get some flashlights first.
They are walking through the park calling Max’s name.
Blair: This park is six square miles! My feet are killing me! And we’ve been walking for hours. The puppy probably hears his name called and goes in a different direction. Plus its so dark we can hardly see. We wouldn’t be able to see the puppy even if it were right there.
Blair points to the ground behind her. We see that Max is there. However the girls don’t turn around.
Jo: Well that’s true- maybe we should go home and try tomorrow. Although the poor thing is probably starving and freezing.
The puppy barks at this comment. The girls turn around and see Max.
Jo and Blair: MAX!!!
Jo: Thank goodness.
Blair (sarcastically): What- excited that you’ll still get paid at the end of the week?
Jo: No-I care about things other than myself. I was worried about the poor puppy! Unlike someone...
Blair: Hey I said I liked Cocker Spaniels!
Jo: Sure you do... but we’d better get Max home and fed.
They go back to the house. We see the puppy in his basket asleep. Jo puts a blanket around him. They go home and its twelve o’clock.
The next day...
Blair: Are you going to call Ben?
Jo: Oh right- I’ll do that now.
She calls and has a chat with Ben. She hangs up the phone.
Jo: Well he asked me out for next Friday night.
Blair: Great! Plus then you won’t be able to forget the puppy cause you won’t have to watch him anymore.
Jo: Oh shutup!
The phone rings- Blair picks up the phone.
Blair: Hello? Oh yes she’s right here- I’ll get her- Jo, it’s Fred.
Jo: Oh no- I totally forgot about him- now I’m double dating- but its just me and two guys!
Blair: Well see if he’ll go out with you on Saturday.
Jo (hesitantly): Alright.
She talks with Fred then hangs up the phone.
Nat comes in the room.
Jo: Well its all settled- Friday with Ben, Saturday with Fred.
Nat: Looks like you guys switched places. Jo’s got two different dates one day after the other and Blair doesn’t have any.
Blair: Don’t say that! We could never switch places.
Jo: Yeah- this is a one time thing just cause I didn’t have the heart to break Fred’s date.
Nat: Alright Jo- but if I see you shopping at Bloomingdales I’m taking you to a psychiatrist.
Jo: If I start shopping at Bloomingdales I’ll admit myself to a psychiatric ward!
They all laugh.
Friday night. Jo and Ben come in returning from their date. Its very apparent neither had a good time.
Jo: Well this night was very long...fun, fun, it was a lot of fun.
Ben: Well I guess we can do this again...sometime. I’ll give you a call.
Ben leaves.
Jo: Yeah do this again- in a trillion years.
Blair comes downstairs.
Blair: So how was your date?
Jo: Not good at all! All he could talk about was stocks and bonds! Then he went on and on about the fashion of today and finished off the date with
Blair: That doesn’t sound so bad.
Jo: Your right- it wasn’t bad. IT WAS TERRIBLE!!!
Jo goes upstairs. Blair stands there thinking then a smile comes across her face. She picks up the phone and dials a number.
Blair: Hi Ben? This is Blair. I was wondering if you were busy tomorrow...
Saturday night. Jo and Blair return home at the same time.
Jo: Hi Blair where did you go?
Blair: Its a Saturday night- must you ask? I went on a date.
Jo: With who?
Blair: Ben.
Nat and Mrs G come in from the kitchen.
Mrs G: Hi girls how was your night?
Jo & Blair: I just had a wonderful date!
Jo & Blair: Don’t listen to her my date was better.
Jo & Blair: Stop saying what I’m saying!
Nat: Are Jo and Blair actually agreeing on something?
Jo & Blair: No! But I can’t wait for next weekend.
Jo and Blair look at each other. Then everyone laughs.
THE END

------------------
Tootie: Can we sing?
Jo: Sing?
Tootie: That's what I do when I'm scared what do you do?
Jo: Slap people

Blair: A Warner is like a delicate soufle
Jo: Yeah light and empty

Nat: I'd rather be a happy magic marker than a skinny pencil

It was a funny story. I especially liked the banter between Jo and Blair, and the joke about Jo and Bloomingdales.
